Disney Is Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ With a 4K Restoration
As crazy as it may sound, Alice in Wonderland is officially celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, and The Walt Disney Company is getting ready to celebrate in a big way.
To commemorate the anniversary of one of its animated classics, Disney is preparing to debut a 4K restoration of the film, which will be released digitally and on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on May 5.

The restoration will also receive a special one-night-only premiere at the TCM Film Festival on May 1.
The Team Behind the Restoration
The Alice in Wonderland remaster was completed by the Walt Disney Film Restoration Team over a nine-month period.

To breathe new life into the film, artists completed a digital scan of the original negatives and carefully cleaned the footage to correct dust, warping, and other age-related wear.
The team also studied original production artwork held in the Walt Disney Animation Research Library to ensure the restoration matched the filmmakers’ original intent.
Finally, the restoration team worked closely with Michael Giaimo, a veteran of Walt Disney Animation Studios.
