Small, Medium, and Large Bites at Animal Kingdom
You’ll burn tons of calories during a Walt Disney World vacation.
All that walking gives you the freedom to eat whatever you want and feel completely guilt-free.

Tree of Life
That’s especially true at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s biggest theme park.
As you traverse this place, you’ll experience several different kinds of hunger.

Sometimes, you’ll want a giant meal, but you’ll also snack your way through the park.
So, let’s talk about the small, medium, and large bites at Animal Kingdom.
Small Bites

This park is really great for offering small bites.
Since Animal Kingdom is so huge, Disney has added food options in tons of spots.

You’ll never have to go far to find something tasty, whether it’s a snack or dessert.
For starters, the Anandapur Ice Cream Truck is a lifesaver on a hot day.

It’s literally what it sounds like: a giant ice cream truck that’s hard to miss due to all its colors.
This particular ice cream truck is parked and not going anywhere, though.

For a more Disneyfied frozen treat, head to Harambe Market.
Here, you’ll find Tamu Tamu Refreshments, and you can probably guess what they serve!

Tamu Tamu Refreshments
Yup, this is Animal Kingdom’s home for all things Dole Whip, with seven different versions.
Three are non-alcoholic, including the original, while four come with a bit more of a kick.

Along those lines, Eight Spoon Café serves another Disney delicacy, the mini-churro!
Personally, I prefer the full-sized ones, but Family Churros are perfect for a Small Bites discussion.

Eight Spoon Café sells them in batches of 21, which sounds like a lot until you start eating.
Then, you’ll notice an empty plate much sooner than you would have expected. It happens.

Caravan Road is another excellent place to go on a hot day, as it serves copious amounts of slushies.
Of course, small bites come in other forms, some of which feature Disney theming.

At Pongu Pongu, you can sample the local Pandoran cuisine, which comes in the form of…pretzels.
Apparently, beer cheese is a thing on alien planets as well, and you want it in your mouth!

Finally, we have a wildly popular spot, Creature Comforts, which isn’t named accidentally.
This place sells STARBUCKS coffee, the most addictive substance known to humanity.

Medium Bites
When I think of medium bites, I generally slot them into two categories.
The first is a mini-meal like a slice of pizza or an order of nachos, something that can sustain me for a while.

The other is a fast-food kind of meal, a lunch or dinner that’s not particularly involved.
These are the Mac & Cheese-style comfort foods that the overwhelming majority of people adore.

Coincidentally, I can’t stand Mac & Cheese, but that says more about me than anything. I’m picky.
Still, I never have a problem finding food at Animal Kingdom, a park overflowing with powerful flavors.

For example, Flame Tree Barbecue may serve THE best barbecue at Disney World.
That’s a hotly contested battle, with a couple of newcomers trying to claim the throne.

They’re struggling to do that because Flame Tree Barbecue has remained consistently great for many years now.
Another one of my favorites is Pizzafari, which is a quick-hitter Italian place.

You can find other things on the menu here such as a surprising Chicken Caprese Baguette Sandwich.
I view that as overthinking things, though. When you go to a place named Pizzafari, you get pizza! Duh.

Then again, you may not want pizza at Animal Kingdom, a park that has seemingly everything.
I mean, Harambe Market sells Harissa Chicken Wraps, a dish you’ll never find at Six Flags.

Of course, after a recent menu change, it also sells cheeseburgers and chicken strips.
So, this place is now Restaurantosaurus x Harambe Market, an eclectic mix.

Harambe Food Market Corn
Oh, and I didn’t mention Harambe Fruit Market earlier, but the Grilled Corn on the Cob is a personal fave.
Finally, we have the best medium bites of all, which you’ll find at Satu’li Canteen, the best Quick Service restaurant at Animal Kingdom.

Large Bites

Make no mistake on this point. Animal Kingdom does large bites VERY well!
You’ll have four choices here, one of which is substantially worse than the rest.

I always joke that if you’re eating at Rainforest Café, you’re doing it wrong.
You should go to Tusker House instead, and I say that as someone who can’t stand Tusker House.

This place is my personal Nightmare on Elm Street, as weird stuff happens when I eat here.
Literally everyone else who has ever eaten at Tusker House adores it.

The restaurant serves buffet-style African cuisine and tops it off with character greetings.
Mickey Mouse and his friends will come to your table and entertain you. It’s magical.

Personally, I vastly prefer a different Table Service restaurant and have said as much many times.
Yak & Yeti Restaurant serves some of the most impressive cuisine in Orlando.

To wit, TripAdvisor currently ranks it as one of the top 60 restaurants in the city.
This seems like a good time to mention that TripAdvisor lists 3,239 restaurants in Orlando. So…

Yeah, Yak & Yeti is the gold standard for sitting down with your friends and savoring a delicious meal.
The Chicken Tikka Masala and Honey Chicken dishes are nothing short of legendary.

Still, some people want to go even bigger when dining at Animal Kingdom…and you can!
Tiffins Restaurant is a Signature Dining experience that doubles as a world tour.

You can sample cuisines from Asia, Africa, the Riviera, and South America.
Final Thoughts

Disney describes Tiffins as “a culinary expedition of international cuisine.”
Doesn’t that make it sound a little like Jungle Cruise? Well, it is, which makes it a fancier Skipper Canteen.

This is THE finest dining option at Animal Kingdom on days when you’re in the mood for a large bite.
To a larger point, you really can’t go wrong anywhere at Animal Kingdom…except Rainforest Café!
