BREAKING: Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Has Soft Opened at Magic Kingdom
If you’ve been following along here at MickeyBlog, you know we’ve been keeping a close eye on the refurbishment of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom.
When the attraction reopens, it will feature a variety of upgrades, including digital targets, handheld blasters, always-on lasers, and enhanced ride vehicles.

Additionally, Space Ranger Spin will debut a new opening scene featuring Buddy, along with an updated hyperspace scene.
Finally, earlier this morning, we provided a first look at the attraction’s new marquee.

While Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will officially reopen on April 8, fans visiting Magic Kingdom today can ride early, as the attraction has soft-opened. Here is the latest.
Space Ranger Spin Soft Opens
When visiting Tomorrowland this morning, we were thrilled to see that Space Ranger Spin had opened.

A sign outside invites guests to preview the upgraded attraction.

Cast Members were also on hand to greet and welcome guests.

Before long, fans began lining up for a chance to ride!

The Queue
As the attraction’s soft opening was a surprise, we did not have to wait long to ride Space Ranger Spin.

The queue remains essentially unchanged, although it has been refurbished.

The Star Command Power Center was also looking good.

Before riding, fans should make sure their My Disney Experience settings are correct.

The Ride
As we previously mentioned, the Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin ride vehicles have been updated.

They are, however, still powered by Cosmic Fission batteries.
The inside of the vehicles feature upgraded joysticks.

The balsters come in green…

…and red.

The targets are MUCH easier to see.

As before, however, the goal is to take down Zurg.

Getting Ready For Adventure
As before, the attraction begins with Buzz Lightyear preparing riders for their mission.

The Buzz animatronic looks great!

Nearby, the large ViewMaster is working better than it has in years.

The objective remains the Evil Emperor Zurg.

Before setting out, guests have the opportunity to test out their blaster.

Here is another look at the blasters.

You also get an up-close look at the new targets.

Finally, it is time to board!
The Attraction Gift Shop Has Reopened
In addition to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, the attraction’s gift shop has reopened.
As before, fans can see their on-ride photos on monitors.

Here is a closer look at the monitors.

As before, you can scan your MagicBand to secure your photo.

The attraction’s gift shop continues to be stocked with Buzz Lightyear and Toy Story merchandise.

Here is another look at some of the items.

Needless to say, Toy Story fans will want to take some time to shop.

The shop is teeming with new merch!

Here is one last look.

The gift shop also holds a pressed penny machine.

Here is a look at the design offers.

All the pennies look amazing!

Finally, Zurg is still in jail.
