Let’s Discuss the Value of Disney Cruises
I’m in hard sales mode about Disney cruises right now.
After discussing it for a while, I finally persuaded my brother and his family to join me and my wife on a Disney cruise this fall.

While discussing the details with him, the intrinsic value of Disney cruises became abundantly clear.
They kept asking us which activities cost extra, and we kept telling them that it was part of the package price.

Let’s talk about the value of Disney cruises.
Table Service Dining is Included

Disney
My brother’s family are long-time Disney vacationers who visited the parks multiple times in 2025.
So, they’re probably like you in that they think of vacations in theme park terms.

Disney Destiny
When I told them about the meals on our ship, the Disney Destiny, I mentioned the rotational dining options.
On the Destiny, those include 1923, Worlds of Marvel, and Pride Lands: Feast of Lion King.

The Worlds of Marvel meal includes a mini-movie starring the actual cast of The Avengers. That sounds expensive.
Pride Lands is the proverbial dinner and a show that celebrates one of Disney’s most popular films ever.

That ALSO sounds pricey, and I’d argue that 1923 is the finest dining experience of the three restaurants.
Since my brother and his family are used to Walt Disney World, they naturally wondered how much more they’ll have to pay for such meals.

I think it’s fair to say that the Lion King experience would cost at least $60 per person at the parks.
On a Disney cruise ship, the all-inclusive pricing means you won’t pay anything extra for rotational dining.

Your cruise can be three days or 14 days. All of these Table Service meals are included in the price.
For tourists like me who love Table Service Disney dining, this is an incredible value-add. Remarkably, that’s not all.

You can order whatever you want at the various buffets whenever they’re open.
You can get 12 orders of chicken tenders. Nobody will judge you!

Astoundingly, you don’t even need to leave your room to eat well as part of your complimentary menu.
Room service on Disney cruises is also included in the price, although I’d encourage you to tip the person who delivers your food.
Disney fans keep looking for the catch, but there isn’t one.
The Broadway-Quality Shows

Disney
Nobody does Broadway quite like Disney.
I vividly recall one of my favorite shows of the 1990s joking about the challenges of getting Lion King tickets the month of the show.

In 2026, tickets for Disney’s Broadway shows start in the range of $135 and quickly increase from there depending on the seat.
Let’s just say that you probably wouldn’t pay for three Broadway Disney shows in a year due to finances.

Disney Hercules Aboard NEW Disney Destiny
On a Disney cruise, everyone can attend three different Broadway-quality shows as part of the basic package.
Since this comes with your booking, you’d be silly not to take advantage.

On the Disney Destiny, we’ll get to enjoy the buzzworthy Disney Hercules stage show, along with two others.
Disney Seas the Adventure is wildly popular, but my wife is more excited about Frozen: A Musical Spectacular.

This seems like a good time to mention that her wedding ring is themed to Elsa.
Disney performs these presentations multiple times each day throughout the cruise, giving you ample opportunity to experience each one.

Should you not feel like going, Disney also simulcasts the show on the television in your cabin.
In terms of what you’d actually pay, this is probably THE best value on a Disney cruise.
Private Ports

I’m staying in Fort Lauderdale the night before my cruise and have priced some hotels.
To the surprise of no one, the oceanfront resorts start at $300 per night and go up significantly from there.

Hotels make tourists pay for the privilege of exclusive beach access. Contrast that to Disney cruises.
Many of the itineraries stop at one of Disney’s two private ports, Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

You can spend every daylight hour at one of these pristine beaches, but you don’t pay extra to do so.
Even when you choose other itineraries, they often include port days in exotic locations, many of which are by the beach.

On the private ports, Disney hosts massive family-friendly areas where kids can splash around and have a great time
Meanwhile, parents can relax and savor their vacation knowing that their children are safe.

When adults want to get away from it all, Disney also hosts private areas for the 18 and over crowd.
You’ll find me in one of these areas when I’m spending a day at one of Disney’s Cays.

At these two private ports, you can eat at the buffets for free as well, which is another huge advantage.
When Disney says all-inclusive, it’s serious.
The Sheer Volume of Onboard Amenities

I mention this every time I discuss Disney cruises because I’m still blown away.
When you’re on a Disney cruise, you have your choice of five things to do at any time of day, and I’m not being hyperbolic.

You can almost always find some character greetings, along with other Disney-themed activities.
You can also do anything from shooting basketball to watching a still-in-theaters movie.

For example, several Disney cruise ships are currently exhibiting Hoppers as I write this.
You may think to yourself, “Why would I want to watch a movie on a cruise?” but that’s the thing.

Disney doesn’t judge. It offers activities for everyone, whether you want to sing karaoke and dance or show off your incredible trivia skills.
The newer ships in particular have leveled up with their amenities.

Doctor Facilier and Cruella de Vil both host free shows that are highly in demand.
The Pricing

DCL
Cruise fanatics often express surprise when they look at the price of Disney’s offerings.
I think it’s fair to say that some get sticker shock because they don’t understand the specifics.

Disney cruises presume double occupancy and thereby offer transparency with their pricing.
The price you see isn’t per person but rather per cabin, presuming double occupancy.

So, Disney cruises don’t require anyone to do math to determine the actual price.
Okay, I lied a little bit as families traveling with children and other third/fourth occupants will need to do so.

Still, I find that to be a great deal more honest than the cruise lines that offer per person pricing, neglecting to tell you that you’ll be charged for double occupancy no matter what.
Then, we have the secondary issue of what’s included in “all-inclusive.”

Pixar Day at Sea – Disney Fantasy
With most major cruise ships, they’re going to trap you onboard and try to upsell you on everything possible, including the liquor.
Once you’re nicely inebriated, you won’t care about the cost of the other upsells, which is part of the business model.

Pixar Day at Sea – Disney Fantasy
Disney prices its cruises fairly and is perfectly fine if you don’t drink alcohol or coffee, or buy port excursions.
During my most recent Disney cruise, someone attempted an upsell on me exactly once, and it was for a case of water I happened to need anyway.

There’s a reason why Disney cruises are so highly rated on surveys and in annual awards.
You won’t ever discover any hard sales on Disney cruises, just cast members bending over backwards to ensure you have one of the most memorable vacations of your lifetime.
