Consumer Reports Names Disney as Best Cruise Line For Accessibility
Consumer Reports has released its Best Cruise Lines for Accessibility survey, and perhaps unsurprisingly, Disney Cruise Line has come out on top.
If you have ever taken a voyage aboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel, you know how dedicated the operation is to accessibility and inclusivity.
As explained by Consumer Reports, a 2024 survey by the Open Doors Organization found that 13 percent of U.S. adults had taken at least one cruise in the past five years. That equates to 5.1 million travelers taking 10 million trips.

Needless to say, accessibility has become a key factor in choosing a cruise line.
The Survey Results
To determine the best cruise lines for passengers with accessibility needs, Consumer Reports surveyed 18,850 members who had taken a cruise over the last 36 months.
When the numbers were crunched, Disney and Viking tied at the top of the list with a perfect 5 out of 5 rating.
Reading over the report, Disney earned strong marks for the accessibility of Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. Consumer Reports noted that the islands are accessible to all with seamless ramps, pool lifts, free beach wheelchairs, paved pathways, and “access mats” that help wheelchairs and scooters get close to the water.

Additionally, the Oceaneer Club was praised for its ability to accommodate children ages 3 to 10 with accessibility needs.
All in all, it is great to see Disney get credit for its dedication to accessibility.
