Emily Osment and Mitchel Musso Share Why They Missed the ‘Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special’
One of the biggest questions leading up to the premiere of The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special was whether or not we would see a full cast reunion.
As a quick recap, the Hannah Montana retrospective is streaming on Disney+ today, giving fans the opportunity to look back at the beloved series and see Miley Cyrus don her iconic blonde wig once again.

Alex Cooper is also on hand for the festivities, interviewing Cyrus about her time as Hannah Montana and examining the lasting impact that the series has had on millions.
“Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am,” Cyrus said.

“What began as a TV show grew into a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be grateful for that connection. The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m incredibly proud of. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve supported me for 20 years.”
The ‘Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special’ Premiere
Before The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special made its streaming debut, a premiere event was held for the retrospective.
Cyrus was joined by her father, Billy Ray, her mother, Tish, and co-star Jason Earles for the festivities.

There were, however, two noticeable absences: Emily Osment and Mitchel Musso, who played Hannah’s best friends Lilly Truscott and Oliver Oken.
Emily Osment Had a Scheduling Conflict
While neither Osment nor Musso attended the 20th Anniversary Special premiere, both actors took to social media to share their well-wishes and thank the fans.

In a short Instagram video, Osment revealed that she could not attend the premiere due to scheduling conflicts with Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
“We are at the ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ set, and that’s why I was not able to be a part of the 20-year reunion, because we are here shooting our show,” she said.

“But I wanted to say hello and thank you to everybody that has stuck by us for all these years. I’m so grateful that you guys all still love the show. I’m so proud to be a part of it… We appreciate you. Lots of love.”

“Miley [Cyrus], Emily [Osment], Jason [Earles], Billy Ray [Cyrus], Moisés [Arias], and the whole crew at Disney — you became my family through all the real, messy, beautiful moments,” he wrote.
“Thank you for believing in a goofy kid from Texas who wore some questionable outfits with a haircut like that. To all of you, thank you for welcoming me into your homes and hearts 20 years ago and still allowing me to be here today. I’m honored we get to share all of this together.”
