ABC has decided to cancel Season 22 of The Bachelorette just three days before the long-running reality series was set to return.
The decision came after TMZ released a 2023 video showing Taylor Frankie Paul, who was set to star in the upcoming season, throwing chairs at her ex, Dakota Mortensen, while her child was nearby.

“In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family,” a Disney spokesperson said.

In addition to The Bachelorette, Paul’s transgressions have reportedly led to filming pausing on Hulu’s The Secret Wives of Mormon Wives.
The Incident Was Previously Reported
While the video of Taylor first surfaced today, the incident itself has been known for some time. In 2023, the reality star was arrested for alleged domestic assault. A CBS News report at the time also noted that she was facing child abuse charges after a chair she was throwing at her ex hit her daughter.

According to the Draper City Police Department, there is an open domestic assault investigation regarding Taylor and Mortensen, and “allegations have been made in both directions.”
“It’s sad to see the latest installment of his never-ending, desperate, attention-seeking, destructive campaign to harm Taylor without any regard for the consequences for their child. Releasing an old video, which conveniently omits context, on their son’s birthday is a reprehensible attempt to distract from his own behavior,” a spokesperson told PEOPLE.

“Thankfully, the public has seen this act before and knows who he is and sadly, many will recognize this pattern of manipulation, both in his actions on the show, and from their own experiences.”
