Disney+ is getting an infusion of new magic this week, as Disney’s flagship streamer will introduce vertical videos for the first time ever.
Beginning this week, fans will be able to enjoy stories in a new way on the mobile app with Verts.

As first announced at Disney’s 2026 Global Tech & Data Showcase, vertical video will give fans a new way to connect with the stories they love.
How to Access the New Feature
To access the new feature, users simply tap the new Verts icon in the navigation bar on mobile, which opens a vertical video feed they can swipe through, featuring scenes and moments from movies and shows on Disney+.
Additionally, the vertical videos can be added to users’ Watchlists.
According to Disney, early testing on Disney+ and the launch of ESPN’s new app have seen Verts drive additional engagement.
Disney Is Just Getting Started
The launch, however, is just the beginning. Currently, Disney is exploring ways to expand vertical video beyond content discovery.

“Over time, Verts will play a key role in fans’ everyday experience on Disney+. At launch, this includes driving discoverability across Disney’s entertainment catalog, with opportunities in the future to add content from creators that reflects our fandoms, plus other storytelling formats, content types, and personalized experiences,” Disney teased.
I, for one, can’t wait!
