Disney Celebrates 100 Years of Winnie the Pooh
This year marks a major milestone for one of the most beloved characters of all time.
Disney is celebrating 100 years of Winnie the Pooh, honoring the character first introduced in A.A. Milne’s original book.

Pooh has spanned generations and remains visible across Disney Parks through attractions, character greetings, and themed treats.
Pooh also appears in films, television, and an enormous range of consumer products. The Walt Disney Archives continues to preserve his amazing legacy and the impact he has had on fans everywhere.

The Archives works closely with internal teams that provide product samples for preservation. In the early days, the process was far less structured, with the team searching swap meets and vintage sales to locate early pieces of Disney merchandise history.
Today, those preserved items continue to guide new product development. Designers frequently reference archived merchandise and sometimes recreate vintage designs.

Disney
The Archives also loans artifacts to museums and traveling exhibits so fans around the world can experience Disney history firsthand.
The Archives contains merchandise connected to Winnie the Pooh dating back to the late 1920s and 1930s.
These items include early books and paper materials along with plush toys, apparel, board games, and publications that represent how the character evolved over time.

A current display highlights Pooh merchandise from the 1960s to today, including books, toys, plush figures, and even a Disney Parks popcorn bucket.
Other artifacts included a Winnie the Pooh Whirl-A-Tune Music Maker, a Little Golden Book titled Winnie the Pooh Meets Gopher, and an international storybook from Italy.
Modern Merchandise
Modern merchandise continues to expand Pooh’s presence, and there is always something new for every fan to check out.

Displays featured brands such as Funko, Spirit Jersey, Loungefly, LEGO, Old Navy, and Vera Bradley higlighting new items. These products continue to bring the Winnie the Pooh story to life in new ways.
Amanda Dhalluin, Vice President of Global Brand Commercialization for Disney Consumer Products, explained that the team works to balance innovation with the character’s original storytelling roots.

Disney
“How can we stretch Winnie the Pooh in an innovative way while keeping to his true essence and storytelling?” she said.
One strategy includes adapting product styles for different audiences and reflecting local cultural themes, like the Sakura Plush line from Disney Store Japan.
