The Raglan Road Wrongful Death Lawsuit Has Been Voluntarily Dismissed
A significant development has emerged in the wrongful death lawsuit filed against The Walt Disney Company by widower Jefffrey Piccolo.
The case centers on an incident at Disney Springs’ Raglan Road, where Jeffrey Piccolo and his wife, Dr. Kanokporn Tangsuan, dined on October 5, 2023.
According to the lawsuit, Dr. Tangsuan, who had a severe dairy allergy, died after allegedly being served allergens she had been assured would not be included in her meal.

Her death was later ruled to be the result of “anaphylaxis due to elevated levels of dairy and nuts in her system by a medical examiner.”
The Lawsuit
When Piccolo initially filed suit against Disney, the company sought to move the case to arbitration, arguing that the plaintiff had agreed to the Disney+ terms and conditions when signing up for a free trial, which effectively waived his right to sue.

However, following significant public backlash, Disney reversed its position.
“At Disney, we strive to put humanity above all other considerations,” Disney Experiences chairman Josh D’Amaro said.

“With such unique circumstances as the ones in this case, we believe the situation warrants a sensitive approach to expedite a resolution for the family who have experienced such a painful loss. As such, we’ve decided to waive our right to arbitration and have the matter proceed in court.”
Why Was Disney Included in the Suit?
It is important to note that Raglan Road is not owned or operated by Disney. The company was named in the lawsuit because the restaurant has a page on the Walt Disney World website indicating that it offers “allergen-free food.”

Since then, Raglan Road’s website has been updated to clearly state that the restaurant is NOT an allergen-free establishment.
The Dismissal
According to a new report from Bloomberg Law, Piccolo’s legal team has filed a motion to dismiss his wrongful death lawsuit against Disney.

Typically, this means that a private settlement has been made.
As of this writing, however, no details about a potential agreement have been revealed.
