TOP 6 Reasons Disney Trips Are Good for the Soul
Going to Walt Disney World is so much more than hugs from Mickey Mouse and must-do experiences. For those who grew up with Disney, traveling to Orlando is good for the soul.
In a world full of packed schedules, chaos, and uncertainty, Disney is my haven in the storm. Comforting movies and cheerful playlists have gotten me through the hardest days.

So, when anyone asks if I’m going to Disney World again, I’m happy to explain why.
There are countless reasons, but today, I’ve narrowed it down to my top 6. Here are just some reasons why Disney trips don’t only make me happy, they replenish my spirit.

Disney
Reason #1: Above and Beyond Staff
Dubbed “Cast Members”, Disney employees go by this naming convention. From parade dancers to ice cream cone scoopers, every employee plays a significant role in the parks.
This mindset results in extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and engaged employees. A far cry from typical customer service, Cast Members treat everyone like a V.I.P.

In a world that is so hurried, it’s refreshing to be able to ask any employee for help, advice, or directions.
Guest service is so exemplary in Disney that it usually takes me a couple of days to adjust to the “regular” version of customer service at home.

Cast Members are the true magic makers. Fixing problems and sprinkling pixie dust when possible make them the most important aspect of the guest experience.
Don’t forget, you can submit Cast Compliments in the Disney World app for anyone who made your day unforgettable! I highly recommend it.

Reason #2: Cleanliness is Next To Godliness
Thanks to the aforementioned Cast Members, Disney World is incredibly clean. As a neat freak who loathes being sick, I appreciate this.
For comparison, picture your local amusement park or carnival. Sure, it’s fun. But it’s also covered in spilled food and debris.

Disney
Because of Walt Disney’s foresight to provide the extra garbage cans and overstaff the janitorial team, you rarely see Disney in a “messy” state.
Cast Members work tirelessly to keep walkways swept, tables clean, and bathrooms stocked.

Custodial Costumes
This cleanliness spills over to park maintenance, where buildings, facades, and structures are constantly being repainted and touched up. Unlike the real world, Disney doesn’t show its wear and tear.
This is yet another reason why I love time in this immaculate, frozen-in-time bubble of a place.

Reason #3: Good Food is Good “Soul” Food
There’s no shortage of hot dogs, but there’s plenty of exceptional food and drinks.
As a self-proclaimed foodie, I’m obsessed with Disney’s viral snack carts, classy sit-down restaurants, themed bars, and seasonal festivals.

Like many, I don’t just go to Disney World to ride. I go to eat.
Like chicken noodle soup after a cold, Disney food makes my heart (and tummy) happy. Some favorite eats are guilty pleasures (like Mickey-shaped things), and other meals deserve Michelin stars.

Princess Tiana believes that good food is good for people, and so do I. So does the Disney World culinary team.

Reason #4: Knowledge is Power
Epcot may have less “edutainment” than it did in the 90s, but Disney World is still an incredible place to learn. Whether you’re interested in history, technology, or the environment, you can flex your intellectual muscles.

Some of my favorite educational experiences include:
- Checking out the marine animal exhibits outside of The Seas with Nemo and Friends
- Taking a guided ride on the Kilimanjaro Safari
- Checking out cultural displays inside each World Showcase Pavilion
- Getting a recap of the nation’s history at The American Adventure
- Learning about the evolution of modern technology at The Carousel of Progress

Learning is just good for our brains. It helps our mental focus and keeps our comprehension skills sharp. And if this can be done in a fun way, I’m all in.

Reason #5: The Inspiration of Travel
Disney trips don’t only inspire repeat visits, but they also inspire more travel in general!
Disney World trips have led me to cruising, visiting Disneyland, and even seeing other countries. (The international parks are on my bucket list.)

Disney
Think I’m exaggerating? Just take a stroll through Epcot and tell me you don’t have a favorite World Showcase Pavilion. Stroll through the Animal Kingdom and tell me a real-life safari has never crossed your mind.
That’s the beauty of Disney World. It encourages you to reach outside of your comfort zone.

I don’t know if I would be as well-traveled as a person if Disney hadn’t nudged me. And for that I’m very grateful.
Reason #6: Pure Nostalgia
This may be obvious, but here it is. Nostalgia is a strong pull.

Why? Because nostalgia is comforting.
Like many, Disney was a hallmark of my childhood. I spent hours watching movies, listening to soundtracks, wearing costumes, and begging my mom to go to the Disney Store.

Disney
Anything Disney-related transports me back to those carefree times. My heart rate still noticeably lowers when Disney music comes on the radio.
I am a happy person. But I still deal with stress and disappointment like everyone else. It’s nice to know there’s a place that rarely disappoints me.

Disney
With that being said, if you need a “soul boost” on your next vacation, I hope you’ll consider Disney World.
It might be the best decision ever.
