Orlando International Airport Celebrates a Major Milestone in Gate Link Tram Replacement Project
On December 3, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority’s $253 million Gate Link Replacement Project kicked off at Orlando International Airport (MCO).
To ensure that travelers have the best possible experience at MCO, the new project will replace the aging Gate Link system with state-of-the-art technology and new tram vehicles to create a smoother, faster, and more reliable trip from security checkpoints to the airside.

In total, the project will see the installation of four new Gate Link vehicles, which will connect Terminals A and B to Gates 70–129 on Airside 2 and Airside 4.
“Orlando International Airport is proud to be the gateway that welcomes millions of visitors to Central Florida and connects our residents to destinations around the world,” said Lance Lyttle, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA), which operates MCO.

“While this project requires some temporary adjustments, the long-term benefits will enhance safety and ensure our Gate Link system serves passengers reliably for decades to come.”
A Major Milestone
Less than three months after the Gate Link Replacement Project began, MCO is already celebrating a major milestone.
Earlier this morning, the airport took to social media to share a first look at the new Gate Link trams as they arrived!
There’s still plenty of testing ahead, but these are the new rides that will carry you between the terminal and gates 100–129. To learn more about our Gate Link project, visit: https://t.co/CKAkAXFG9B pic.twitter.com/34ySXKE8KA

A separate post showed the trams closer up.

“Out with the old, in with the new! Early this morning, three brand new Gate Link trams were unveiled and placed onto their tracks – the first wave of vehicles replacing our previous trams,” MCO said.

Testing Ahead
While the Gate Link Replacement Project still has a ways to go until the trams welcome their first passengers, we have reached an exciting milestone.

Hopefully, testing goes smoothly, and we will see the trams in operation soon.
