Should You Stay at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort?

Every official Walt Disney World resort features a plethora of marvelous options.

They all have their advantages, and a few even have some disadvantages.

Let’s discuss one that doesn’t necessarily have the best reputation, but you shouldn’t let that deter you.

Should you stay at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort? The answer may surprise you…

Tremendous Value

Let’s lead with the primary reason you’ll stay at any Disney All-Star Resort.

Disney has created an entire grouping for its most affordable official hotels.

When you vacation at a Value Tier resort, you gain access to all Disney hotel benefits at the best possible price.

Basically, you’re minmaxing your Walt Disney World vacation.

Disney amenities include the highly valuable Early Theme Park Entry, which entitles you to go into a park 30 minutes before it officially opens.

Disney charges $20 or more for Lightning Lanes for some of its attractions.

With this amenity, you can save the money and head straight to the ride once you enter the park.

At All-Star Music, a one-night stay could cost as little as $149 in 2026, which makes it cheaper than many third-party hotels.

All other things being equal, you always want to stay at a Disney hotel.

Based on some detailed analysis I did for a book that will come out later this year, All-Star Music is THE cheapest of Disney’s Value Tier resorts.

That makes it the most affordable official Walt Disney World hotel.

As far as minmaxing goes, it’s tough to beat this hotel’s value.

By the way, during summer Disney World vacations, you also gain free water park access on the first day of your visit.

That’s a $70 plus, which makes All-Star Music that much better of a deal.

Simply stated, for budget-focused Disney vacationers, All-Star Music is the best choice.

The Theming

You’ll never guess the theme of Disney’s All-Star Music Resort.

Sorry, that may have been a dad joke. Yes, it’s music.

However, the way that Disney has designed the hotel makes the theming stand out.

These aren’t generic concepts like rock and country.

Well, okay, there is that, but some of the choices will definitely surprise you.

Imagineers have themed each building to a style of music, and at least one is relatively obscure.

Here’s the list of Disney buildings:

• Calypso – Buildings 1 and 10
• Jazz Inn – Buildings 2 and 9
• Rock Inn – Buildings 3 and 4
• Country Fair – Buildings 5 and 6
• Broadway Hotel – Buildings 7 and 8

You don’t hear much about Calypso these days, do you?

That’s what I love about Disney.

They can remind you of Harry Belafonte’s greatness during your hotel stay.

Conversely, when you stay at Broadway Hotel, you may be singing show tunes all week.

You may enjoy the theming at All-Star Music so much that you visit various buildings to admire what Imagineers have created.

Still, I should clarify that you get what you pay for at Disney World, and the theming at Value Tier Resorts is rarely as good as Moderate or Deluxe Tier.

That’s okay, though. You’re at Disney World and probably won’t spend much time in your room.

Also, you’re free to visit the hotels with better theming, smiling all the while because you know you’re paying a fraction of the price for your room.

Family Suites

All-Star Music can claim something that no other All-Star Resort can.

You can book Family Suites here, which makes this hotel the best value for larger traveling parties.

The hotel’s family suites sleep up to six guests and include a comfy 525 square feet of space.

So the people staying in your room shouldn’t feel claustrophobic and will have plenty of room to move around.

These family suites feature one queen bed and two in-wall pulldown queens, allowing everyone to sleep comfortably. Best of all, you get two bathrooms.

Despite all the benefits, you’re still paying All-Star Music prices.

Based on my calculations, a family suite costs an average of $485 per night, which is still cheaper than some Moderate and all Deluxe Tier Resorts.

The Restaurant and the Shopping

You should know by now that you’ll dine like royalty during a Disney vacation.

Remarkably, you never need to leave your hotel for a meal.

Don’t get me wrong. You absolutely SHOULD try a few other places. Still, Intermission Food Court is all you’ll need.

This onsite Quick Service restaurant is really more of a mall food court.

What I mean by that is that you can find any entree you crave, making it the ideal compromise dining option for a large family.

One person can get a burger, another can order a pizza, and the healthy eaters will have better options at the hotel than they would at home.

Disney designs its All-Star Resorts in a way that you never need to leave the campus for any of your needs.

That statement applies to the dining options, but I could also be referencing your shopping.

Maestro Mickey’s somehow combines the concepts of general store, gift shop, and convenience store.

You can grab any of your family’s necessities, such as sunscreen or other items you may have forgotten to pack, such as toothbrushes or shampoo.

Then, you can check the freezer to find a few foods you can leave in your hotel minifridge.

I consider these sorts of emergency supplies an imperative during a Disney vacation, which makes a trip to Maestro Mickey’s a necessity.

Note that you can also use a delivery service like Instacart or Door Dash to deliver supplies.

However, they won’t bring it to your room. You also must pay a service charge.

Maestro Mickey’s really shines as a mini Disney Store, chock full of the vacation merchandise you covet.

Since you’re saving money on your hotel stay, you can do plenty of guilt-free shopping here.

You May Want More at Your Hotel

Disney’s All-Star Music Resort

This circles back to what I said earlier about getting what you pay for.

Disney has put a lot of thought into how it structures its official hotels.

The Value Tier Resorts offer better amenities than anything you’ll find offsite at a similar or sometimes even better price.

However, you’ll gain even better amenities, such as Table Service restaurants, at some Moderate and all Deluxe Tier Resorts.

Also, as I mentioned before, the theming improves dramatically at higher tiers of Disney hotels.

Again, you’re doing a cost-benefit analysis to determine the best use of your vacation budget.

I recently spoke with a nurse at my doctor’s office, and she indicated she was going to All-Star Music in a few weeks for her child’s marching band appearance.

These sorts of appearances and athletic competitions happen often, with the guests typically staying at All-Star Resorts.

Reflexively, we told her she was getting the best deal possible for a Disney vacation.

That’s often how we describe All-Star Music, and it’s doubly so for travel parties of six, who must decide whether to book a second room.
