Animal Kingdom’s ‘Encanto’ Attraction Reaches a Major Milestone
With the closure of DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, and the rest of DinoLand, U.S.A. earlier this month, construction on Tropical Americas has entered a new phase.
While work is now officially able to begin on the transformation of DINOSAUR into a new Indiana Jones attraction, Tropical Americas’ other flagship attraction continues to chug ahead.
As first announced at 2024’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Pueblo Esperanza will also be home to a new Encanto dark ride.
Set to open in 2027, the new Encanto attraction will invite guests into Casa Madrigal on the day that Antonio received his gift to communicate with animals.

Inside, riders will find that his room has been transformed into a tropical rainforest.
Construction Has Been Underway

The last time we checked in, Cast Members had signed a steel beam for the attraction.
Now, we are back with another update!
A Major Milestone
Michael Hundgen, Vice President Creative, Walt Disney World Portfolio at Walt Disney Imagineering, took to LinkedIn this morning to share that the construction of Animal Kingdom’s Encanto ride has reached a major milestone.
According to Hundgen, the final steel beam for the new attraction has been installed.

“Huge milestone for our Imagineers working on the addition of Encanto to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The last beam of steel is in and now it’s time to bring Casita to life. Congrats, team!” he wrote.

Based on Hundgen’s photos, it looks like Imagineers and construction team members signed the final beam.
