Meet the Imagineers Who Made the Frozen Ever After Refurbishment a Reality
by Justin Hermes · February 12, 2026
EPCOT got an infusion of new magic this week as Frozen Ever After has reopened with its upgraded Audio-Animatronics.
As a quick recap, when Frozen Ever After first opened in 2016, the attraction featured projected faces on the animatronics.

While this method enabled Imagineers to animate characters’ faces, it also produced figures that looked unnatural and uncanny.

When Imagineers set out to recreate Frozen Ever After for Hong Kong Disneyland’s Fantasy Springs, they decided to use more traditional heads for the Audio-Animatronics.

These figures looked infinitely better.
The Frozen Ever After Upgrades
Last month, EPCOT’s Frozen Ever After finally closed to undergo upgrades to its Audio-Animatronics.

When the attraction reopened early yesterday, we were able to see the new sculpted heads.

They look amazing!
