PHOTOS: Cinderella Castle Moat Drained as Repainting Continues
If you have been reading along here at MickeyBlog, you know that we have been closely following the repainting of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom.
For those who may not remember, the iconic Magic Kingdom structure was given a new color scheme in 2020 as part of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration.

Leaning into the anniversary’s aesthetic, Cinderella Castle was painted in a rose-pink hue. It was also accented by deep blue rooftops and gold trim.

After years of showcasing the 50th anniversary look, Disney announced at last year’s Destination D23 that Cinderella Castle would be repainted with a refreshed color scheme inspired by its original hues.
The Repainting Is Underway
Over the past several weeks, we have watched as work on Cinderella Castle began.

The last time we checked in, Disney was preparing to drain the Cinderella Castle moat.

Cinderella Castle Repainting – Magic Kingdom
Now, we have another update.
The Moat Has Been Drained
Guests visiting Magic Kingdom today will quickly notice that the Cinderella Castle moat has now been drained.

As you can see, the moat bed is now clearly visible.

Magic Kingdom’s birds are certainly enjoying it.

Here is another look toward Tomorrowland.

With the moat drained, the park’s waterfalls have been turned off.

The topiaries look a little sad without the water behind them.

Here is one last look at the moat.

The Castle Base and Towers Have Been Painted
As far as the painting of Cinderella Castle itself goes, more turrets have been painted gray.

Here is a closer look at the new paint.

The turrets really pop.

The base of the castle has also been painted.

Clearly, Disney is starting with the new gray paint and working from there.

Here is one last look.

So far, everything looks great.
As always, be sure to check back with MickeyBlog. We will continue to update you on all the news coming out of Walt Disney World.
