‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’ Gets an Exciting Update
If you have been reading along here at MickeyBlog, you know that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 has seemingly been in development for years.
The last time we checked in, we brought you the news that producer Jerry Bruckheimer had confirmed that the Pirates of the Caribbean team had narrowed their focus down to a single script, with Ted Elliott contributing to the current treatment.

“We had two scripts at one point, and then one kind of dropped out, and we kind of went with the other one,” he explained.
Additionally, Bruckheimer teased that Margot Robbie was still involved with the project.

Now, for the first time in months, we have a substantial update on the film’s progress.
Disney’s Plans For ‘Pirates 6″
According to insider Jeff Sneider, Krysty Wilson-Cairns has been brought in to finish the Pirates of the Caribbean 6 script, which will center on Jack Sparrow’s son and a new character played by Margot Robbie.

As explained by Sneider, the film is a priority for the newly promoted Josh D’Amaro and Dana Walden.

The film would attempt to “capture the tone of the original films but with a modern edge and a tighter budget.”
What About Johnny Depp?
The big question, obviously, is the status of Johnny Depp.

Over the past couple of years, Depp’s relationship with Disney has seemingly thawed, and rumors have persisted that the actor will reprise his role as Jack Sparrow again.
Without Depp, Disney would have to hope that the Pirates of the Caribbean name and Robbie’s star power are enough to bring audiences back to theaters.

That may be a losing proposition.
