Bruce Vaughn Praises Disney’s Choice of Josh D’Amaro as Its Next CEO
One of the most highly anticipated succession announcements in Hollywood history came to a close yesterday when The Walt Disney Company announced that Josh D’Amaro will succeed Bob Iger as the company’s next CEO.
D’Amaro was selected following an extensive search process that included both internal and external candidates. In fact, according to James Gorman, over 100 candidates were considered.

In the end, however, the race narrowed to just two contenders- the Disney Experiences Chairman and Disney Entertainment Co-Chair Dana Walden.
Ultimately, Disney chose D’Amaro. Walden, however, will remain with the company as its new President and Chief Creative Officer.

In the aftermath of Disney’s announcement, everyone from Michael Eisner to Nelson Peltz has weighed in on the decision.
Now, we’ve heard from a man who has worked closely with D’Amaro for years.

“Josh has long been one of Imagineering’s most genuine champions, someone with strong creative instincts who truly understands the power of story, place, and emotional connection,” he said.
“I’ve had the privilege of working closely with him, and I’m personally grateful that almost three years ago he invited me back to lead Imagineering again. It’s a decision that speaks to his belief in creativity, collaboration, and the people who bring these worlds to life.”

Vaughn then turned his attention to Dana Walden, who will report directly to D’Amaro in her new role.
“With Dana Walden serving as President and Chief Creative Officer, Josh has an accomplished creative leader helping steward the company’s storytelling as it continues to evolve across platforms and generations,” he continued.
