Bob Iger Is Looking Forward to Quieter Days, But Will Pick Up the Phone if Josh D’Amaro Calls
After three years, one of the most heavily analyzed succession sagas in Hollywood history came to a close yesterday, when The Walt Disney Company announced that Josh D’Amaro will succeed Bob Iger as the company’s next CEO.
As the transition of power will officially occur at The Walt Disney Company’s Annual Meeting next month, Iger’s time with the Mouse House is officially winding down.

While D’Amaro will officially assume the role of CEO on March 18, Iger will remain with Disney as a Senior Advisor and member of the board through December 31, 2026.

While D’Amaro admitted to already feeling the weight of his new role, Iger is looking ahead to a more peaceful existence.
“You can’t just turn the switch off one day,” Iger explained. “But I’m just looking forward to quieter moments and quieter days and a little bit more room in my life.”
Iger’s Will Pick Up the Phone
Despite Iger’s insistence that quieter days are ahead, he says he will always pick up the phone should D’Amaro call for advice.

“I will be available, on call, should anyone want advice from me,” he explained.
“I’ll call him,” D’Amaro quickly interjected.

As Bob Iger prepares to ride off into the sunset once again, it is clear that his fingerprints remain all over Disney.
In D’Amaro, the departing CEO has finally found someone to carry his legacy forward and lead Disney into a new era.
