Michael Eisner Congratulates Josh D’Amaro on Becoming Disney’s Next CEO
One of the most highly anticipated succession announcements in Hollywood history came to a close today when The Walt Disney Company announced that Josh D’Amaro will succeed Bob Iger as the company’s next CEO.
D’Amaro was selected following an extensive search that included both internal and external candidates.

In the end, however, the process narrowed to a two-person race between the Disney Experiences Chairman and Disney Entertainment Co-Chair Dana Walden.
Ultimately, Disney chose D’Amaro, though Walden will remain with the company as its new President and Chief Creative Officer.

“Congratulations to Josh D’Amaro for becoming the CEO of The Walt Disney Company, and congratulations to Chairman James Gorman for making such a wise pick, as well as promoting Dana Walden to president and chief creative officer,” Eisner began.
The longtime Disney CEO then offered D’Amaro a friendly bit of advice.

“My advice to Josh is to continue Bob Iger’s strategy that creativity will handle profits, always protect the brand, and keep close the words of Walt Disney: ‘We love to entertain kings and queens, but the vital thing to remember is this: every guest receives the VIP treatment.’ Good luck.”
A New Era
Outside of Bob Chapek’s brief run as Disney CEO, the company has been led by Michael Eisner and Bob Iger for more than 40 years.
