PHOTOS: DinoLand, U.S.A. Has Already Been Removed From Disney’s Animal Kingdom Digital Map
The countdown to extinction finally struck zero for DinoLand, U.S.A. yesterday, as DINOSAUR and Restaurantosaurus officially and permanently closed.
If you’ve been following along here at MickeyBlog, you know that DinoLand’s final day of operation was a time of joy and celebration, as fans flocked to Disney’s Animal Kingdom for one last adventure through the past.

DINOSAUR
In addition to long lines for DINOSAUR, we saw guests dress up as Dr. Seeker, grab one final meal at Restaurantosaurus, and, perhaps most importantly, celebrate the Cast Members who brought DinoLand, U.S.A. to life.
For fans of the land, it was a heartwarming and bittersweet day.

Now, it’s time to look ahead.
DinoLand Has Been Removed From Animal Kingdom’s Map
As Disney chose to close DinoLand in phases, construction on Tropical Americas has actually been underway for over a year. In fact, outside of the DINOSAUR and Restaurantosaurus section of the land, DinoLand, U.S.A. had already been reduced to a maze of construction walls.

Tropical Americas signage
Clearly, Disney is wasting no time transforming the opening-day land into Pueblo Esperanza for the new Tropical Americas expansion.
Perhaps it should come as no surprise, then, that just hours after DinoLand, U.S.A. closed, the area was removed from Walt Disney World’s virtual map.

As you can see, the entirety of DinoLand, U.S.A. is now shown as a green expanse. The only exception is Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!, which, while never technically located within DinoLand, had previously been listed alongside the area’s attractions.

A New Chapter Begins
With Tropical Americas set to open sometime next year, it will be a while before the southeast corner of the park is back in use.

Clearly, a new era in Disney’s Animal Kingdom history is upon us.
