Beloved Actress and Screen Star Catherine O’Hara Dies at 71
Sad news and heavy hearts are in the entertainment community today.
Catherine O’Hara, the beloved star of Home Alone and The Nightmare Before Christmas, has died at the age of 71, leaving Disney fans with decades of memories, laughs, and holiday traditions.

Catherine Anne O’Hara was born on March 4, 1954, in Toronto, Ontario. She was the sixth of seven children and the older sister of Canadian singer Mary Margaret O’Hara.
O’Hara got her start in acting when she landed a role on the Canadian television sketch comedy show “Second City Television” in 1974.

The Emmy Award-winning actress went on and became best known for her roles in beloved shows and films like “Schitt’s Creek” and “Beetlejuice”.
Though for many of us, Catherine O’Hara is associated with family and the holidays in the classic “Home Alone” movies

In addition to the fun and chaos of the McCallister household, O’Hara also portrayed Sally (and Shock) in Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.
She gave Halloween Town its emotional core, making Sally’s quiet courage and longing feel timeless and relatable.

Television and Movies
O’Hara’s long career included more than 100 roles across TV and film. Her most recent acclaim is for her role in the comedy series “Schitt’s Creek” as Moira Rose. Fans loved the grandiose actress blissfully detached from reality.
Her portrayal of Moira in “Schitt’s Creek” earned her a Primetime Emmy Award in 2020 and a Golden Globe in 2021.
