PHOTOS: A Haunted Mansion Exterior Refurbishment Is Now Underway
If you’ve been reading along here at MickeyBlog, you know that Magic Kingdom is currently in the midst of several large-scale projects.
Between the ongoing refurbishment of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the updates coming to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and the looming creation of Piston Peak, Imagineers have been keeping busy.

In addition to these major projects, it now appears that another refurbishment is underway in Liberty Square.
Construction at Haunted Mansion
Late last year, we brought you the news that Walt Disney Imagineering had filed an intriguing permit for the Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion.
While the permit did not reveal many details, it did call for the installation of new set elements and assigned the work to Mecca Productions.
Although Disney has remained quiet about its Haunted Mansion plans, it looks like some kind of refurbishment is now in progress.
While visiting Magic Kingdom today, we noticed that scrim is currently covering part of the Haunted Mansion’s exterior.
From what we could see, Disney appears to be building something on the mansion’s grounds.
Through the scrim, scaffolding is clearly visible.
What Is Disney up To?
While it remains unclear what this latest refurbishment entails, the construction appears to be taking place near the area where the queue enters the attraction building.
Disney is also expected to refurbish the interactive queue soon.
Hopefully, we’ll learn more soon.
