The Sith Lord Comes to Life in First ‘Maul: Shadow Lord’ Teaser
At Star Wars Celebration Japan last year, Lucasfilm announced that the Star Wars animated universe would continue with the debut of Maul: Shadow Lord in 2026.
Picking up Darth Maul’s story one year after The Clone Wars, the series will explore the turbulent era between the fall of the Republic and the rise of the Empire.

Sam Witwer will return to voice Maul, reprising a role that has made him a fan favorite thanks to his portrayal of the fallen Sith Lord in animation.

Needless to say, excitement among fans is running high.
The First Teaser Has Arrived
With Maul: Shadow Lord set to arrive on Disney+ later this year, Lucasfilm has released the first trailer for the animated series.
In the brief clip, a drop of blood seemingly transforms into images and scenes from Maul’s life, including his iconic lightsaber and his duel with Qui-Gon Jinn.

Eventually, the abstract visuals coalesce into Maul’s unmistakable visage, as his burning eyes come to life.
It’s a striking video that should get any Star Wars fan excited.

When Will the Series Premiere?
While Disney has yet to announce exactly when Maul: Shadow Lord will debut, the prevailing belief is that the series will premiere on May the 4th.

We should get more clarity on Lucasfilm’s plans soon, as the first Maul: Shadow Lord footage drops tomorrow.
