Disney fans are looking forward to January 22, 2026, when the highly anticipated documentary, Disneyland Handcrafted, makes its debut on Disney+ and Disney YouTube!

Disneyland Handcrafted, which was produced and directed by Leslie Iwerks (the granddaughter of Disney Legend Ub Iwerks), tells the story of the creation of Disneyland, including rare archived footage and more.

Today, we were invited to attend an advanced screening of Disneyland Handcrafted, and we’re here to take you along with us!

We arrived at AMC Disney Springs this afternoon, excited to check out the highly anticipated film. We’ve already shared with you details from the Walt Disney Archives, Disneyland’s opening day, and the film’s premiere.

In fact, Disney shared that over 300 guests were in attendance, including two Cast Members from the opening year of Disneyland!

Leslie Iwerks and Jason Recher, Vice President of Disney Parks Segment Content Creation & Digital Integration, spoke a few words before the screening.

The film screening began at 4:40PM, and the run time is just over 70 minutes.

This documentary tells the story of how Disneyland was built from the ground up, taking you from groundbreaking to opening day on July 17, 1955.

We really enjoyed seeing what happened behind the scenes, along with all the rare archival footage and original audio recordings.
We thought it told the story of Disneyland in a way we’ve never seen before, and the nostalgia makes it a must-watch for any Disney fan!
