Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is Closing Temporarily as Cold Weather Hits Orlando
Even “The Most Magical Place on Earth” can still get uncomfortably chilly at times, as the Walt Disney World park calendars have shown this week.
Unfortunately, due to colder-than-expected temperatures sweeping through Orlando, one of the resort’s parks has confirmed it will be closing for guests throughout the next few days. We’ve got the full icy scoop laid out below, so if you’ve got a trip planned this week, make sure you read on…

Typhoon Lagoon Closures This Week
As fun as Disney water parks can be, nobody wants to be donning their bathing suits and plummeting down some slides in such cold, wintry weather!
Therefore, Disney has made the decision to close Typhoon Lagoon for the first half of this week, as we can see reflected in today’s park calendar.

Typhoon Lagoon will be completely closed to guests from today, January 12th, through January 14th.
At the time of writing, Typhoon Lagoon is set to reopen during its regular park hours on January 15, but we’d advise guests to keep a close eye on the calendar as this is subject to change!

Of course, this isn’t the first time Typhoon Lagoon has faced unscheduled closures due to weather this winter, with the last cold snap shutting down the park just before New Year’s.

It’s not all bad news, however, as it was announced earlier this week that both Disney waterparks will be open simultaneously over the summer.
That’s right — both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are set to be open to guests through the return of Walt Disney World’s Cool Kids’ Summer season, which kicks off later this year.
This means we’ll be able to enjoy all the lazy river floating, tube sliding, and wave pool surfing we like through the warmer months, and we simply can’t wait!

In the meantime, we’ll be keeping a close eye on those park calendars to make sure the current cold snap doesn’t affect any more experiences here at Walt Disney World Resort. Be sure to stay tuned for further updates as they come, and stay warm out there!
