PHOTOS: Updated Look at Frontierland Construction in Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom is a hub of construction right now in Disney World. Walls have gone up in Tomorrowland and Storybook Circus as multiple refurbishment projects are in the works.

And now, we have an update on the construction happening over in Frontierland!
Construction in Frontierland
Construction continues in Frontierland as the major refurbishment of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad makes more progress.

The walls have been pushed out further than they were previously!

Yep, the view over here is basically just walls now.

What’s going on with this extensive refurbishment? Well, it’s getting a new Rainbow Caverns scene and an expanded backstory.

You can read all about the new backstory right here!

There is also a new ride synopsis that reads, “After you arrive at the legendary Big Thunder Mining Company, descend into an active mine shaft and board your runaway train. As you enter the cavern, the engine speeds up along the rickety track. Dodge exploding dynamite and falling boulders as you swoop around turns, drop into canyons, and dart through the town of Tumbleweed.”

It goes on to say, “Your rip-roaring adventure proves that some legends are true. You’re sure to have a real blast!”

We can’t wait to see the updated version of this ride once it reopens in the spring of this year!

We also got a better look at the work happening on the former Tom Sawyer Island. It’s being turned into a Cars-themed land called Piston Peak!

Piston Peak will take inspiration from the Rocky Mountains, with the American Frontier history blending in perfectly with Frontierland and Liberty Square in this part of the park.

It will be full of trees, mountains, waterfalls, geysers, and so much more! We can expect a visitor lodge, trails, a ranger headquarters, and more.

We can’t wait to see more progress happening on this area! There is no official opening date for the land, but we expect it to take a few years at least.

Stay tuned for more Disney World news and updates!
