How Disney Improved the Park Experience in 2025
Disney theme parks change for the better each year.
Walt Disney himself dictated this constant need to “plus” theme park attractions and experiences.

He firmly believed that any theme park that failed to innovate would gradually lose customers.
The proof’s in the pudding, as Disney has created and nurtured its theme park empire.

Last year, park officials went above and beyond to make the parks better than ever.
Here’s how Disney improved the theme park experience in 2025.
Added New Shows

Each year, tourists may safely expect Disney to introduce new and/or updated attractions.
Last year was no different, with several new experiences debuting.

Three of them were show-based attractions, which I view as a step in the right direction.
Disney had somewhat overlooked the value of shows over the past decade.

Then, the ones they had created, like Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, hadn’t excited tourists.
Thankfully, Disney’s Hollywood Studios delivered two new shows in 2025.

The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure modernized the previous story and earned excellent reviews.
More importantly, Disney just gave fans what we’ve pleaded for: a villainous attraction.

Bettered My Disney Experience

Disney
The tech crew updates My Disney Experience so frequently that we kind of take it for granted.
That’s why I’m pointing out an excellent year for under-the-hood app enhancements.

MickeyBlog tracked literally dozens of them, but my favorite involves Disney dining.
Disney simplified the planning/booking experience by opening the calendar.

Disney
Historically, guests could only check for a specific date or window.
As of 2025, My Disney Experience vastly expanded the search window.

Guests can now look at every potential date at every Walt Disney World restaurant.
This is just one of countless improvements, all of which make a Disney vacation easier than ever.

Brought Back a Nighttime Parade at Magic Kingdom

Photo: D23
Here’s a fun fact: the Main Street Electrical Parade had its last Magic Kingdom performance in 2016.
SpectroMagic, the parade it replaced, had opened in 1991. Those two dates tell the story.

(Richard Harbaugh/Disneyland Resort)
Magic Kingdom hadn’t hosted a nighttime parade in nearly a decade until the summer of 2025.
Even worse, the park hadn’t offered an entirely new nighttime parade in nearly 35 years.

You can understand why Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away is such a big deal.
For starters, Magic Kingdom finally provided guests with a nighttime parade.

Second and I would argue more importantly, it was an entirely new show using 2020s technology.
Not coincidentally, Disney Starlight is an absolute masterpiece and wildly popular to boot.
Finally Gave Woody’s Lunch Box Some Shade

I honestly cannot believe that this took so many years to happen.
When Disney built Toy Story Land, the person in charge of the parks at the time made a budget choice.

Disney
A gentleman named Bob Chapek decided that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge needed more resources.
So, he shaved the budget on Toy Story Land…and in an unforgivable way.

This themed land never got any shade, an indefensible decision in the Sunshine State.
Diners at Woody’s Lunch Box sat in the blaring sun for eight years (!) before the problem was corrected.

Thankfully, that finally happened in 2025, with management adding shade to the seating area.
That wasn’t the only addition, either. Disney also opened a new seating area, another welcome change.

We all know just how much of a fight it could be to get a table at Woody’s Lunch Box before 2025.
Gave Walt Disney a Permanent Home

I mentioned two shows earlier, but I wanted to separate a special one from the pack.
Tourists wouldn’t have theme parks to visit if not for the vision and daring of Walt Disney.

Sadly, we lost the creative genius in 1966, and Disneyland fans know this all too well.
Park officials have honored him in myriad ways over the years, but now we have something better.

Walt Disney: A Magical Life is a new show that features a realistic Audio-Animatronic of Disneyland’s creator.
As of 2025, Walt Disney will always have a presence in the theme park that bears his name.
Introduced the Next Generation of Test Track

I happily lavish praise on Test Track 3.0 whenever possible, as I’m in awe of it.
Imagineers had roughly a year to reinvent Test Track for the next generation of tourists.

Disney gave them some seemingly conflicting instructions: creating a retro yet futuristic ride.
The idea called for Test Track to honor EPCOT’s roots while projecting a better tomorrow.

Remarkably, the Imagineers somehow managed this impossible feat in delivering an exceptional ride.
Test Track pays tribute to its predecessor, World of Motion, while showing a taste of the future of technology.
Opened Experiential Lounges

GEO-82 Fireworks Experience
Whether you prefer GEO-82 or The Beak and Barrel, Disney treated you right last year.
EPCOT and Magic Kingdom both opened thematic lounges in ideal sections of the park.

GEO-82 Fireworks Experience
At GEO-82, you’re literally eating and drinking inside Spaceship Earth, the giant silver ball in the sky.
So, you can people-watch everyone exploring the park beneath you while you hang out and relax.

The Beak and Barrel takes a more direct approach to Disney fan service.
You eat and drink at the spot right beside Pirates of the Caribbean and enjoy a pirate’s life for a while.

Easter eggs from the ride and the film franchise are hidden in plain sight. How many can you spot?
Both of these experiential lounges enrich a Disney visit by giving you more places to unwind and enjoy your park day.
Provided Kids with a Cool Summer

This particular event proved so popular that Disney isn’t just bringing it back for 2026.
Cool Kids’ Summer will get even better this year! That speaks to Disney’s satisfaction with its reception.

Photo: Disney
This family-friendly event offered plenty of dance parties, sing-alongs, and character interactions.
Again, it followed a recurring theme of modern Disney. It’s another way to have fun while hanging out.

Park officials are working hard to make your vacation more relaxing and enjoyable.
So, here’s an activity that allows parents to entertain their kids in a low-key, less stressful environment.

I fully expect Cool Kids’ Summer to become an annual event because it just makes too much sense.
Rebuilt Astro Orbiter on the Fly

Photo: Disney
Unless you were paying attention and reading MickeyBlog, you might not have even noticed this one.
Over the years, Astro Orbiter had lost a bit of its shine at Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland.

The façade, while still gorgeous, appeared a bit lackluster once TRON Lightcycle / Run opened.
Disney officials weren’t about to let that indignity stand. So, they did something about it.

Astro Orbiter
A construction crew brought out the biggest crane anyone has ever seen and went to work.
Disney took apart the Astro Orbiter landmark, removed it from the park, and gave it a new coat of paint.

Then, that same enormous crane brought it back and put Astro Orbiter back into one piece again.
Frankly, I marvel at the engineering feat. This was no easy task yet Disney fans barely even batted an eye.

We’ve all grown to expect the impossible at Disney theme parks.
Rolled Back the Clock with ‘90s Nite

Photo: Disney
Every year, Disneyland After Dark hosts a series of after-hours ticketed events.
They’re all universally delightful, but most of them are well-established entities by now.

We all know Star Wars Nite and Sweethearts’ Nite and Pride Nite. Those are status quo.
Occasionally, Disney offers something new and different, though, and those events are usually spectacular.

Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite 2025
I raved about Disney Channel Nite in 2024, and then Disney may have one-upped it last year.
Disneyland After Dark: 90s Nite provided a marvelous dose of nostalgia to party-goers.

People could interact with popular characters from that era of Disney entertainment.
Also, they could sing along to many of their favorite songs from Disney 1990s movies and TV shows.

This was Disneyland at its most fun, which is no small feat for a place called The Happiest Place on Earth.
