Which Disney World Rides Broke Down the Most in 2025?
Each year, we look back at all the attractions that struggled to remain operational.
Before I discuss 2025, I should acknowledge something important, though. Well, two things, really.
Photo:visitorlando.com
The first is that Disney’s safety precautions are the gold standard in the theme park industry.
Disney largely avoids tragedies due to the protections it has in place.

Photo: Disney
Sure, a 400-pound boulder sometimes dislodges from its track, but that’s a rare event.
Overall, Disney has proven itself as the safest of all major theme parks.

Even better, over the past calendar year, Disney has streamlined its park operations.
I’ve tracked significantly less downtime in 2025, especially recently.

Disney
Disney is keeping its rides up and running more than in past years, which is great news.
That’s a strong indication that the problems of the pandemic are behind us.

Disney
Long story short, the data we’re about to discuss isn’t anywhere near as troublesome as in past years.
So, which Walt Disney World rides broke down the most in 2025? Well…
DINOSAUR

I’ve written this list at the end of several consecutive years.
By this point, we know all the repeat offenders, yet we still have a few surprises.

One of them is DINOSAUR, which had never made this list.
Hilariously, TriceraTop Spin (!) had when it was operational, which makes this all the odder.

DINOSAUR uses proprietary technology with its ride carts, so they should be susceptible to hiccups.
I hadn’t tracked as many of those delays as with other rides…until 2025.

DINOSAUR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
DINOSAUR struggled more with its uptime this year, which may reflect its reality.
More guests are prioritizing the ride since it’s literally in its final days.

Dinosaur
The one thing I can say with certainty is that DINOSAUR will not repeat on this list next year.
As a diehard fan of the ride, that thought bums me out, though.
Kali River Rapids
The track record for this particular attraction is brutal.
While it may seem like yet another Disney boat ride, it’s a different variant.
The rapids rides employ different mechanics, and Kali River Rapids faces additional problems.
Disney cut corners while constructing Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the 1990s.

Photo: Disney
Michael Eisner’s cheapness then has ultimately cost Disney a large amount of money.
Disney spends a ton on maintenance for Kali River Rapids, but it’s still not enough.
Even after more than 25 years, this ride remains incredibly difficult to keep online.
Living with the Land

Living with the Land — Glimmering Greenhouses
Here’s a surprise entrant for 2025.
Living with the Land IS one of the boat rides I just referenced. So, it usually works well.

For various reasons, the attraction struggled more this past year than in previous ones.
Don’t be surprised if Disney randomly announces a refurbishment.

This attraction is displaying all the tell-tale signs of a ride in need of some TLC.
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

In 2025, Disney World had better luck with its OmniMover rides than in the recent past.
Mainstays on this annual entry like the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover and Spaceship Earth aren’t listed.

Photo: Disney
Only one OmniMover ride is, and that’s one a surprise, too.
Then, we have The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, which isn’t an OmniMover per se.

Photo: Disney
However, it’s still a slow-moving dark ride with a penchant for breakdowns.
In the Fall, this attraction proved particularly problematic and never really improved. So, this is another attraction that may require a refurbishment to clean up lingering issues.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

You knew this one would be on the list if you’ve read previous years.
Ratatouille not only earns a spot annually, but when I did rankings, it’d finish near the top.

That fact may change in the future due to a recent ride update on Ratatouille.
Disney has removed the problematic 3D elements, which could mitigate its uptime issues.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Thus far, it’s a small sample size, but the switch to 2D has led to better uptime statistics.
I should stress that the two aren’t necessarily related, though. It could be a coincidence.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Here’s another ride that won’t be a problem for much longer, at least not in its current form.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith actually worked a bit better in 2025 than in previous years.

Even after those improvements, it still squarely slots into the middle of this list.
That means it’s one of Disney’s least reliable attractions, a problem Imagineers may be able to fix.

Photo: Disney
As you know, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will undergo retheming in a few months.
During its downtime, I’m hopeful that Disney can find a few solutions to improve its uptime.

I’m not super-hopeful about these attempts, though. The ride will only be closed for a few months.
Unless simple fixes are available, not much should change beyond the addition of The Muppets.

For many of us, that’s plenty enough, though. We’re all used to the occasional hiccups on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster by now.
Space Mountain

Speaking of unreliable roller coasters, Space Mountain has never failed to make this list.
That was true even in 2025, the 50th anniversary of the world’s most famous coaster.

Space Mountain’s offline status wasn’t as egregious as in past years, which is a recurring theme here.
As I said at the top, Disney has done a terrific job in improving its attraction uptime across the board.

Even so, there’s only so much Disney can do for a 50-year attraction with persistent downtime issues.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Believe it or not, Disney did better with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in 2025 than any previous year.
So, while it still finishes near the top of the list, I’m actually giving Disney credit here.

As I’ve stated on many occasions, Imagineers constructed the Voltron of theme park attractions.
This isn’t a single ride experience but rather five or six diverse ride mechanics combined in one attraction.

With this many moving parts, it’s nothing short of a miracle that Disney keeps this one up and running.
Thus, I’m not looking to tear Disney down here. If anything, I find the steady improvements impressive.

Rey
Just three years ago, I wasn’t confident this ride would ever maintain reliable uptime. Now, it does.
Kudos to all involved in keeping it online. And now I’ve just totally jinxed it, haven’t I?
Test Track

Hoo boy.
The former version of Test Track didn’t just make this list. Just two years ago, it was nearly the worst offender.

What was the worst? Rise of the Resistance. That one’s completely understandable.
Test Track should have no problem remaining online more often than that one.

That’s doubly true now that Disney just spent the body of a year creating Test Track 3.0.
So, I’d hoped for better, yet here we are. Test Track has struggled mightily since its return.

To be fair, demand for it is off the charts right now, as it’s Disney World’s hottest ride.
My hope is that Imagineers will eventually boost its performance just as we’re witnessing with Rise of the Resistance.

For now, let’s just say that Test Track 3.0 is no more reliable than Test Track 2.0.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
In case you didn’t know, Splash Mountain was a notorious repeat offender on this list.
As with Kali River Rapids, this kind of log flume ride is harder to maintain than standard boat rides.

Photo: Disney
When Disney converted the ride to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, that part didn’t change.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was one of the least reliable rides at Magic Kingdom this year.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
One thing I’ll add in defense of it and Kali River Rapids is that they face the same obstacle.
The weather impacts their uptime more than the indoor rides on this list.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Along those lines, I’m happy to report that Slinky Dog Dash didn’t make the list this year.
That is most assuredly a first. Outdoor rides like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Slinky are innately disadvantaged.
Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid

Photo: Disney
Finally, we have the one OmniMover attraction that made the list.
I’m a superfan of The Little Mermaid, my favorite modern Disney movie.

DVC Shop
So, I ride Journey of the Little Mermaid a lot, and I have to acknowledge the truth.
This one shuts down a lot when we’re riding it. Based on the data, we’re not unlucky.

Photo: Disney
In 2025, Journey of the Little Mermaid went down more than all but three rides at Magic Kingdom.
That’s a problem that needs to be addressed. I’m hopeful it was just really bad luck, though.
