‘Zootopia 2’ Is Now the Highest Grossing Hollywood Film EVER in China
Leading up to the release of Zootopia 2, all eyes were on the film’s performance in China.
As we previously reported, should the highly anticipated sequel have failed, the American movie industry was ready to write off the Chinese box office.

Thankfully, that turned out not to be the case.

By the time the film’s first weekend had ended, the Disney blockbuster had grossed $272 million, delivering the biggest opening over for a Hollywood animated film.

“We always hope that our stories resonate around the world, but I could see from the premieres for this film in particular that people can really see themselves in these characters and in the emotional journey that Nick and Judy go through,” director Jared Bush reflected.
A Momenumental Moment
After reclaiming the top spot at the Chinese box office last weekend, Zootopia 2 has now surpassed Avengers: Endgame to become the highest-grossing Hollywood film of all time.

As of this writing, the beloved sequel has grossed $610 million and shows no signs of slowing down.
It is unlikely that Disney, or any studio, will be able to replicate the success of Zootopia 2, as the franchise was already beloved in the Middle Kingdom.

Nevertheless, the film has proven that the Chinese box office can be receptive to Hollywood films.
For that, the entire film industry owes Disney a debt of gratitude.
