A New Permit May Indicate That Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Is Getting a New Marquee
If you have been reading along here at MickeyBlog over the past several months, you know that we have been closely following the ongoing refurbishment of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.
As we speak, the iconic Tomorrowland attraction is currently being updated for the first time in its 26-year history.

When the attraction reopens, riders will notice that the iconic Star Cruisers will have received a new color scheme, video monitor, and real-time scoring updates.
Scoring Upgrades and a New Scene
Speaking of scoring, the attraction’s gameplay is getting an upgrade as well. To enhance the fun, Space Ranger Spin blasters can now be picked up. The shooters will also feature always-on lasers, along with new lighting, sound effects, and haptics to help riders better see where they’re aiming.

Finally, the attraction is also getting a new scene.
Before setting off to battle the Evil Emperor Zurg, riders will meet Buddy, a friendly robot who works for Star Command.

A New Space Ranger Spin Permit Has Been Filed
As work continues on the Space Ranger Spin refurbishment, Disney has filed a new permit for the attraction.

The Notice of Commencement calls for the installation of new signage and assigns the work to Design Communications.
If that name sounds familiar, it should. Disney has previously contracted Design Communications to create the new marquees for Test Track and The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure.

Based on the new permit, it looks like Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will receive a new entrance sign when it reopens.
I, for one, can’t wait!
