Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle Color Refurbishment Has Officially Begun
Late last year, Walt Disney World fans got the news they had long been waiting for when Disney announced that Cinderella Castle would be returning to its original colors.
For those who may not remember, in 2020, the iconic Magic Kingdom structure was given a new color scheme for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.

Leaning into the celebration’s color scheme, Cinderella Castle was painted in a rose-pink hue, accented by deep blue rooftops and gold trim.
When Magic Kingdom’s 50th anniversary celebration came to an end, many expected the castle to revert to its original colors.

That turned out not to be the case, and the color scheme has stuck around for years.
The Restoration Was Announced Last Year
Finally, however, at Destination D23 this year, Disney announced that Cinderella Castle would be repainted with a refreshed look inspired by its original colors.

Later, we learned that the project was set to start in January 2026.
Now, we are back with another update!

A quick look at Disney World’s website and the My Disney Experience app shows that the Cinderella Castle refurbishment is now officially underway.

A new note on the iconic structure’s page reads, “Cinderella Castle is currently undergoing a magical transformation. Learn more about what’s coming soon on the Disney Parks Blog.”
As we previously reported, construction equipment will remain visible during park hours as the refurbishment unfolds. The first step of the refurbishment is reportedly draining the moat.

When it comes to the eventual appearance of cranes, they will be lowered and out of sight by noon each day.
I, for one, can’t wait for Cinderella Castle’s iconic look to return!

As always, be sure to check back with MickeyBlog. We will continue to update you on all the news coming out of Walt Disney World.
