These amateur artists put in a lot of hard work leading up to this exciting moment, and we only see the end result. Disney recently shared a behind-the-scenes look at what leads up to these moving performances and how the program influences their lives.

The Disney Performing Arts programme invites amateur groups from around the world to perform in Disney stage productions.
Participants apply in advance and are selected by a dedicated team with professional backgrounds in music, dance, and theatre.

Past Cast Members include former opera singers and ballet dancers who are passionate about developing and inspiring future talent.
Groups rehearse for months before arriving, then refine their performances on-site with expert coaching. A performance day begins early backstage, where performers arrive in the morning for rehearsals with a professional vocal coach.

Songs often alternate between English and French, making precision and pronunciation essential.
By early afternoon, safety takes priority. Technical teams walk performers through stage entrances, platform placement, and floor markings.

Costume time follows, bringing excitement and nerves. The Disney Performing Arts team stays close, answering questions and easing anxiety through conversation and humor.
Finally, the groups go through sound checks. Performers join together on stage, and they even get a surprise visit from Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.
The Performance

Over 400 guests fill the theatre, with hundreds more watching nearby and the artists get a perform live on stage. After the performance, the groups receive feedback, congratulations, and the best part? Confidence.

The Disney Performing Arts programme supports around 500 events each year, welcoming over 17,000 participants from 20 countries. This special experience becomes a lifelong memory for many of these talented performers.
