As Walt Disney World prepares for a new year to dawn, the Most Magical Place on Earth has plenty of projects underway.

Guests will discover new magic in Big Thunder Mountain Railroad when it reopens in 2026 at Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. They’ll find themselves among beautiful Rainbow Caverns when the trains rattle their way underground to spectacular natural caverns full of phosphorescent pools, but they may not be as friendly as they first appear. Now, it looks like another project is set to kick off.
A New Haunted Mansion Permit
Earlier today, Walt Disney Imagineering filed a new Notice of Commencement for construction on Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion.
Although the permit does not reveal many details, it does call for the installation of set elements and assigns the work to Mecca Productions.
For those who may not know, Mecca is a themed entertainment fabricator in Central Florida that specializes in props, scenery, and haunted houses.
Recently, Disney hired the company to work on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad refurbishment, the transformation of DINOSAUR into Indiana Jones, and the creation of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets.
What Does the Permit Mean?
While it remains to be seen what Disney has planned for Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion, it looks like the attraction may soon get new set elements.
For now, however, we will have to wait and see.
