An Exciting New Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets Permit Has Been Filed
On March 2, 2026, a significant chapter in Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ history will come to an end when Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith permanently closes.
At that time, the attraction will be rethemed, trading in Aerosmith for Kermit, the Electric Mayhem, and the rest of the Muppets.

On the new Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, guests will race through Hollywood to the tunes of the Electric Mayhem in order to help Scooter convince the band to stop recording and make it to their concert in time.
Work Has Already Begun
With Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets set to debut at Hollywood Studios next year, work has already begun on the attraction’s retheme.

Earlier this month, the attraction’s iconic preshow was walled off and replaced by a G-Force Records display.

Now, Disney is preparing for the next phase of the project.
A New Permit Has Been Filed
Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new Notice of Commencement for the upcoming retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

The permit calls for the installation of set elements and assigns the work to Mecca Productions.
The contractor is already working on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad refurbishment and will soon begin transforming DINOSAUR into the new Indiana Jones attraction.

The new Notice of Commencement doesn’t provide a ton of details. It does confirm, however, that new set elements will be added to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
I, for one, can’t wait to see what Imagineering does with the project.
