Walt Disney Imagineering Files TWO New Permits For Monstropolis in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
If you have been reading along here at MickeyBlog this year, you know that we have been closely following the development of Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Originally announced at last year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the new Monsters, Inc. land will include a roller coaster, theater show, and sushi restaurant.

Construction on Monstropolis began in earnest last June, when Muppet Courtyard closed at Hollywood Studios.
The Project Has Continued To Move Forward
Over the last several months, we have watched as the Muppet elements have slowly but surely been removed to make way for Mike Wazowski, Sulley, and the rest of their monster friends.

Earlier this month, we provided an aerial view of the Monstropolis construction. Now, we are back with another update!
Two New Permits Have Been Filed For The Glob
Walt Disney Imagineering filed two new Monstropolis permits this morning, both pertaining to the former Muppet*Vision Theater.

As a quick reminder, the former home of Muppet*Vision 3D is currently undergoing extensive renovations and will eventually reopen as The Glob, home of a new Monsters, Inc. film attraction.
The first new permit calls for general construction and assigns the work to the Jon Richards Company.

A frequent Disney contractor, Jon Richards specializes in scene installation. The company has previously worked on Zootopia: Better Zoogether!, Test Track 3.0, and the recent refurbishment of Sir Mickey’s.
The second new permit, once again, calls for general construction, assigning the work to Solotech Sales and Integration USA.

Solotech specializes in audio, lighting, and video environments, and also previously worked on Zootopia: Better Zoogether!

It makes sense that Disney would turn to the company for their next 3D show.
More To Come
While neither permit provides much detail, it is clear that Disney is continuing to move ahead with its plans for The Glob.

Hopefully, we will learn more about the opening timeline for Monstropolis soon.
