Thousands of Gold Star Families Board the Snowball Express to Head to Disney World
For the 20th year in a row, Gary Sinise and Walt Disney World are teaming up to create holiday magic for Gold Star families.
Last Saturday, dozens of individuals had an emotional sendoff at O’Hare International Airport, where they boarded the Snowball Express for a journey to Walt Disney World.

“Our entire crew is deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve you and honor the loved ones whose memory lives on through you,” a crew member said.

In total, more than 1,600 surviving family members will make the journey to Walt Disney World this week, to spend time with the only people who can truly understand their loss- each other.

Last weekend, ten charter flights departed from 21 destinations across the country. Next week, another six charters will transport 1000 more Gold Star family members.
“The mission of Snowball Express is to unite the families of the fallen and create new happy memories during the holiday season. This is just one of many ways American continues to honor the families of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice,” said Randy Stillinger, American’s Manager of Military and Veterans Initiatives.
