Is ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Coming to the Disney Parks?
While Disney+ has increasingly leaned on its Marvel and Star Wars franchises to find streaming success, one series has been an undeniable hit.
I am, of course, talking about Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which is set to return later this month.

Based on the Rick Riordan young adult series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians follows the adventures of 12-year-old demigod Percy Jackson. The young hero is just coming to grips with his divine powers when Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. To clear his name, Percy sets out on an adventure.
A Streaming Juggernaut
As previously noted, the first season of Percy Jackson was a massive hit for Disney. The show spent eight consecutive weeks on the Nielsen ratings and racked up nearly 73 million hours of viewing.

With a dedicated fan base and a rabid audience, Percy Jackson has quickly become one of Disney’s brightest franchises.
Despite the series’s streaming success, Disney has not chosen to use the franchise or its characters in the Disney Parks.

That, however, may soon change.
Disney Has Had Meetings About Bringing Percy to the Parks
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Karey Burke, president of 20th Television, was asked about the company’s plans to expand Percy Jackson outside of streaming.

“We have been meeting with our partners in the consumer products and the parks divisions, and with the Imagineers about what other worlds of Percy that we can imagine beyond the series. That work is all happening now,’ she said.
While Disney has been slow to leverage its streaming hits in theme parks, there has been momentum in that direction of late.

Next year, The Mandalorian & Grogu will debut aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and Bluey is set to make her debut at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

Based on Burke’s latest comments, it sounds like Percy Jackson and the Olympians could be the next franchise added to the parks. What exactly that looks like, however, remains to be seen.
