TWO New DinoLand U.S.A. Permits Have Been Filed as the Land’s Closure Nears
In just a few months, the countdown to extinction will finally hit zero for DinoLand, U.S.A., and DINOSAUR will become part of Animal Kingdom history.
As a quick recap, at last year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced that a new Tropical Americas land was coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom as a replacement for DinoLand.

When complete, the land will transport guests to Pueblo Esperanza, where they will find attractions inspired by Indiana Jones and Encanto.
Construction Began Earlier This Year
The project officially kicked off in January, with the closure of Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama.

Subsequently, we saw The Boneyard close, the Oldengate Bridge dismantled, and a maze of construction walls come to the land.

Nevertheless, DINOSAUR and Restaurantosaurs will continue to operate through February 1, 2026.
Two New Permits Have Been Filed
With less than two months until DINOSAUR goes extinct, Walt Disney Imagineering has filed two new permits for the attraction’s transformation into Indiana Jones.

Both documents call for “general construction” and assign the work to the Whiting-Turner.
If that name sounds familiar, it should.

Disney has previously worked with Whiting-Turner on numerous recent projects, including the demolition of It’s Tough to Be a Bug and other DinoLand construction earlier this year.
While the new permits do not provide much detail, they are further evidence that Disney is preparing for the next phase of Tropical Americas construction.
