PHOTOS: Disneyland-Inspired Astro Orbiter Poster Arrives at Magic Kingdom
For over fifty years now, the Astro Orbiter has been taking guests on a high-speed spin high above Tomorrowland.
When the attraction opened as Star Jets, it drew inspiration from the Space Age and Disneyland’s Rocket Jets attraction.

Over the next twenty years, Star Jets would become a Walt Disney World icon and one of the most recognizable structures in the park.
The Astro Orbiter
In 1994, the original Star Jets closed. At this time, the attraction was reimagined as a futuristic trip through the universe.

While the basic ride remained the same, stylized planets were added, a stylized iron tower replaced the central rocket, and the ride vehicles were overhauled.

Eventually, the attractions reopened as Astro Orbiter.
An Exciting Year
If you have been reading along here at MickeyBlog, you know that this has been an exciting year for Astro Orbiter fans.
Earlier this year, the attraction underwent a significant refurbishment. Since reopening, the Astro Orbiter has looked better than ever!
Now, we have another update to share.
The New Astro Orbiter Poster
When visiting Magic Kingdom today, we were thrilled to see that a new Astro Orbiter poster had debuted under the Main Street railroad station.
The previous Astro Orbiter poster leaned into the Tomorrowland 94 backstory, with references to the League of Planets.

In contrast, the new Astro Orbiter poster features a classic design and actually draws inspiration from the original Disneyland Rocket Jets poster.
