Disney Celebrates a Successful Sea Turtle Nesting Season at Vero Beach
If you have ever visited Disney’s Vero Beach, you know how dedicated the resort is to turtle conservation.
The Vero Beach beaches are home to three species of threatened or endangered sea turtles, including loggerheads, greens, and leatherbacks.

The turtle populations make the Vero Beach Resort one of the most important turtle-nesting habitats in the Western Hemisphere.

As we reach the end of November, sea turtle nesting season at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort has come to an end.
Another Nesting Season Has Come To an End
In a new Instagram post, Dr. Mark at Disney shared what Disney Conservation Cast Members have learned from their studies.

Here are their findings.
What Conservation Cast Members Learned
This turtle nesting season, Disney Conservation Cast Members observed nearly 1,700 sea turtle nests created by loggerhead, green, and leatherback sea turtles.

Based on historic data, Disney estimates that almost 129,000 sea turtle hatchlings were born this year.

According to the United States Fish & Wildlife Service, Vero Beach Resort sits on the “most significant area for loggerhead sea turtle nesting in the world and the most significant area for green turtle nesting in North America.”

Needless to say, it was a successful nesting season!
