Walt Disney Imagineering Shares More Details About the Upgrades Coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Disney fans got quite the treat this afternoon when the latest episode of We Call It Imagineering shone a spotlight on Walt Disney Research and Development.
As we previously noted, the episode shared a preview of the next generation of Audio-Animatronics, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
While the episode covered a ton of territory, I want to focus on an announcement that Disney slipped in near the end of the clip.
An Update on Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run
Next year, the partnership between Walt Disney Imagineering and Epic Games will bear new fruit when an all-new mission debuts on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Smuggler’s Run
For the first time ever, the new mission will allow crews to control their destinations through enhanced storytelling and controls enabled by Epic’s Unreal Engine. Additionally, the attraction’s “Engineer” role is being changed.

As we previously reported, the updates will debut next spring.
Enter The Mandalorian and Grogu
In addition to changing the format of Smugglers Run, the new quest will also see the addition of The Mandalorian and Grogu.
“We’re really excited to upgrade the Millennium Falcon with an all-new mission,” Imagineer Asa Kalama said, “To bring to life the characters, the Mandalorian and Grog.”
