Ranking the Value Tier Resorts at Disney World
Everyone knows that Walt Disney World vacations have grown a bit more expensive lately.
I mean, what hasn’t? Hyperinflation has been a constant problem during the 2020s.

The pandemic fundamentally altered the economy, and that’s had an impact on Disney fans.
We’re all considering ways to shave our vacation budgets, starting with cheaper hotels.

So, let’s say you’re thinking about staying on-site at Disney’s least expensive properties.
Here’s how I rank the Value Tier hotels at Walt Disney World.
About Value Tier Resorts

I’m a strong believer that guests should always stay on-site at Walt Disney World.
The amenities you receive more than justify the cost of the hotel.

Besides, I just did a deep dive on the price difference between Disney and other hotels in the area.
The gap borders on non-existent, as most third-party Disney World area hotels add hidden fees.

Businesses charge “property fees” as a rule, which makes Disney commendable for not doing so.
Also, many non-Disney resorts nickel-and-dime customers by charging for things like Wi-Fi.

Photo: Disney
You can avoid these charges by using your phone as a personal hotspot, but that’s not the point.
The perceived pricing gap between non-Disney resorts and Disney is oftentimes trivial.

Early Theme Park Entry
Meanwhile, the amenities for staying at Disney are incredibly valuable.
Specifically, Early Theme Park Entry empowers guests at official Disney hotels to experience attractions first.

Early Entry
Since guests can enter the parks 30 minutes before everyone else, they can sprint to the front of the line.
That’s reason enough to want to stay at Disney, but there are many more amenities.

Every resort features at least one exceptional pool as well as a restaurant and a general store.
These shops sell a fascinating combination of basic sundries and adorable Disney merchandise.

So, you never really need to leave your Disney hotel other than when you’re at the parks.
Disney takes care of your every need, something other hotels in the area cannot do.

101 Dalmations Bus
Oh, and Disney offers free transportation, an amenity you’ll covet when you’re staying off-site.
Long story short, Value Tier resorts make a ton more sense than staying off-site.
5. Disney’s All-Star Music Resort

Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
So, which Value Tier resort should you pick? Well, not this one.
Look, All-Star Music is totally fine if that’s your preference, as there’s a dirty secret at play here.

Disney’s All-Star Music Rock Inn Buildings
All three of the All-Star hotels are eerily similar in design and style, separated solely by theming.
Those of you who love music will enjoy this place more than I do, and that’s understandable.

In fact, that’s the very reason why Disney has themed three otherwise indistinguishable hotels this way.
You pick the one that favors your personal style. Still, the amenities matter at least some.

At All-Star Music, Disney has themed the buildings to styles of music like Calypso and Broadway.
You’ll dine at Intermission Food Court, which is similar in style to a mall food court.

Photo: Disney
Then, we have Calypso Pool, which features a Three Caballeros fountain.
All of this is fine, but it’s not as Disney as some other options on the list.

Photo: Disney
That’s my sticking point with All-Star Music. I don’t go to Disney to stay in a Calypso or Broadway-styled hotel.
However, this resort does feature an excellent option that separates it from the rest.

You can book 525-square-foot Family Suites here at relatively affordable prices.
For larger traveling parties, All-Star Music may make sense for this reason.
4. Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort

All Star Sports – Football
A bit of truth-in-advertising here is that most people rank All-Star Sports the lowest of the three All-Stars properties.
I don’t because I’m the kind of idiot who stayed up until 3 a.m. watching an 18-inning World Series game.

All Star Sports – Tennis
Importantly, my favorite team didn’t even make the playoffs. I still watched almost the entire game.
I feel similarly about the NFL, NHL, and NBA, and March Madness and SEC football are my everything.

Football Section – All Star Sports
So, I’m admittedly the target demographic for a hotel themed to sports.
Still, I presume that everyone reading this is also a Disney fan, and that’s why this resort’s better.

All Star Sports – Football Section
While the theming here is similarly generic, with buildings highlighting various sports, it still has a Disney hook.
There are cartoons of Mickey Mouse and the gang playing all these sports, and Disney films apply, too.

The Grand Slam Pool may look like a baseball diamond, but there’s a Goofy fountain spraying water.
The drawback is the dining, as End Zone Food Court is the least-regarded of the three All-Star dining options.

Since I love sports, I have a terrific time when visiting here, though.
3. Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
Finally, we have the All-Star resort that everyone should love.
After all, we’re all Disney fans because of all the classic stories we’ve watched over the years.

Center Court Buildings
At All-Star Movies, you can stay in hotel buildings themed to classic Disney movies.
I’ll readily admit that a couple of them, like The Love Bug and Mighty Ducks, are a bit long in the tooth, though.

Disney’s All-Star Movies Toy Story Building
Even so, your family will love staying in the Fantasia or Toy Story buildings.
Even if you don’t love the movie theming at your building, you can happily explore the campus to see the rest.

Plus, the restaurant here, World Premier Food Court, is easily the best of the bunch.
Disney has themed it to a hotel lobby, and many fans know the trick here.
You should ask to order from the secret menu. It’s a thrilling process that looks like this:
You can do plenty of fun things like this at Disney resorts that third-party hotels simply cannot match.
2. Disney’s Pop Century Resort

I always feel a bit strange comparing all the Value Tier resorts because we all know they’re not the same.
Pop Century and Art of Animation came later, and they’re night and day better.

The pricing reveals this, as the All-Star properties cost an average of $235 for a standard room in 2026.
You’ll obviously pay more or less, depending on the time of year when you visit and the discounts available.

Photo: Disney
That’s a perfectly reasonable amount for any hotel stay, though, much less a Disney one.
The standard rooms at Pop Century are a bit higher at $250-$255 on average.

What do you get for that extra money? Most importantly, you gain Disney Skyliner access.
Pop Century and Art of Animation share a gondola station, and it’s a massive benefit.

You can skip the bus system altogether when you stay at these two properties.
The gondola will transport you to several other hotels and two theme parks, EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Since gondola rides are wonderful in and of themselves, I think it’s worth a few dollars more to stay here.
Disney is currently modifying the hotel lobby at Pop Century, but the hotel’s design remains brilliant.

Repainted Railings at Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Disney has themed each section of the hotel campus after a decade.
This idea is so good that a Las Vegas company plans to build an entire theme park around it.

Repainted Goofy Statue at Disney’s Pop Century Resort
That park…may wind up in court, as it’s the premise of Pop Century blatantly stolen.
Still, you know this resort must be great if someone’s trying to expand on the idea in Las Vegas.

As for the amenities, Everything POP Shopping and Dining delights my family.
In fact, we recently spent 90 minutes here during a Disney vacation. It’s one of the best Disney general stores.

Photo: Disney
Plus, as the name implies, you can eat a good meal here as well.
Due to the convenient logistics of Pop Century, it’s a fun place to hang out even when you’re not staying.
1. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Photo: Disney
Finally, we have my favorite of the bunch, as it combines the best parts of Pop Century and All-Star Music.
You gain all the benefits of Pop Century like the Disney Skyliner when you stay at Art of Animation.

Photo: Disney
However, you can also book Family Suites at this resort, and they’re the finest in the Value Tier.
Imagineers have designed stunning rooms themed to Cars, Finding Nemo, and The Lion King.

Photo: Disney
Each one feels like a private oasis even though you’re staying in the heart of Disney World.
Up to six family members can hole up in these Family Suites and luxuriate on a Disney vacation. It’s bliss.

The restaurant, Landscape of Flavors, and general store, Ink & Paint Shop are also a cut above the rest.
Still, my favorite thing about Art of Animation is that it’s the most Disney of the All-Star resorts.

Photo: Disney
We all fell in love with Disney animation as children, and that’s why we’re fans.
This hotel celebrates classic Disney stories in countless ways, so it’s fun to explore.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
We just love walking around here and embracing the warmth of the Disney Bubble.
I strongly suspect you will as well. For this reason, I know what you should do.
