NBC News Bests ABC as Blackout of Disney-Owned Stations Continues
With the standoff between The Walt Disney Company and YouTube TV entering its twelfth day, all Disney-owned stations remain blacked out.
Since the popular networks went dark on October 31, much of the conversation surrounding the impasse has focused on ESPN and Disney’s presentation of sporting events.

The deadlock, however, is also impacting ABC News.
NBC News Beats Out ABC
According to a new report from Variety, NBC News Nightly toppled ABC’s World News Tonight last week among viewers aged 25 to 54.

This is the first time the program has achieved first place since Tom Llamas joined.
Additionally, NBC’s Today beat ABC’s Good Morning America to become the most-watched morning news program on television last week.

ABC “Retitled” Its Programs
Knowing their programs would see a viewership drop due to the YouTube TV blackout, ABC “retitled” its shows last week.
By doing this, the network was able to keep the underperforming numbers separate from Nielsen’s analysis of the show’s previously aired installments.

While such a move is not uncommon, it does point towards ABC’s lack of confidence in its viewership numbers sans YouTube TV.
No Deal in Sight
As we previously reported, both Disney and YouTube TV are feeling financial pressure to reach a deal.

Despite this, both parties have dug in, and we do not appear any closer to a deal than when we started.

Walt Disney Company
Hopefully, however, a resolution will be reached soon.
