PHOTO & VIDEO: Disneyland Commemorates Veterans Day With a Special Flag Retreat Ceremony
For 70 years now, Disneyland has celebrated the American story and honored the men and women who make the country great through its flag retreat ceremony.
Every evening at dusk, a patriotic procedure plays out in Town Square as Disneyland’s flag is lowered. Often, service members or veterans who are visiting the park that day are incorporated into the festivities.

It is a heartwarming ceremony and one of Disneyland’s great traditions.
A Veterans Day Flag Retreat
With the United States observing Veterans Day today, this evening’s Disneyland Flag Retreat ceremony took on extra meaning.
Today’s procession was led by Cast Members who have served our country.

As you can see, crowds lined Main Street to express their thanks.
Hundreds of Cast Members participated, some even in uniform.

They eventually filed up to the Main Street, USA train station, standing in formation across the front railing and down the steps.

The Disneyland Band and Dapper Dans Joined In
After the veterans, the Disneyland Band struck up a tune, performing a patriotic medley that concluded with God Bless America.
They were joined by the Dapper Dans, who were wearing their red, white, and blue outfits.

Finally, after the flag was lowered and the song concluded, fireworks were launched from Main Street.
All in all, it was a moving ceremony and a fitting way to commemorate Veterans Day.
