Downtown Disney’s Temporary Earl of Sandwich Has Finally Closed
After numerous delays, Downtown Disney’s temporary Earl of Sandwich location has finally closed at Disneyland Resort.
For those who haven’t been closely following the restaurant’s saga unfold, Disneyland initially announced that the original Downtown Disney Earl of Sandwich location would close in 2022 as part of the transformation of the park’s West End.

The plan was for the fan-favorite restaurant to relocate to a new home, which will feature a table-service restaurant and a bar named Carnaby Tavern on the second floor.
The Temporary Earl of Sandwich
During the construction of the new building, a temporary Earl of Sandwich opened in the former La Brea Bakery building, which had been earmarked for Porto’s Bakery.

When plans for Porto’s opening were subsequently delayed, the temporary Earl of Sandwich got an extended lease on life.
In June of this year, however, it appeared that Porto’s was finally ready to move into the building
With this in mind, Disneyland Resort announced that the temporary Earl of Sandwich would close on July 26 and that the restaurant’s 167 employees would be laid off.

Delays, Delays, Delays
While it looked like the temporary Earl of Sandwich’s story was finally coming to an end, construction on Porto’s Bakery was once again delayed.
As we reported, this news meant that the temporary Earl of Sandwich would continue operating for a while longer.
That brings us to today.
Earl of Sandwich Has Closed
This weekend, the temporary Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney finally closed.
When we visited the restaurant, we noticed the red umbrellas had been taken down.
Additionally, the entrances have been blocked off.
And finally, the menus have been removed.
While guests will surely miss the larger Earl of Sandwich location, they can still visit the restaurant’s second temporary location near the Star Wars Trading Post until the new permanent eatery opens.
