PHOTOS: First Look at The Perch at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
Guests staying at Disney’s Grand Resort and Spa got a fun surprise today. The Perch, the new lobby bar, quietly opened for a soft launch today.
Crowds lined up quickly (including MickeyBlog) to see the reimagined lobby space ahead of the official November 10 opening.

MickeyBlog recently reported on the official opening date and name of this highly anticipated lounge, and now Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has entered its next phase.

The resort quietly celebrated a soft opening of its Birdcage Bar, The Perch, which is nestled in the center of the refurbished Grand Floridian lobby.

This was not announced, and there were no posted hours, so guests walking through the lobby this afternoon ended up getting a surprise first look.

Word spread quickly. The area was packed, and guests were lined up around the bar to place their orders.

The Perch sits under an ornate dark wood pavilion in the middle of the lobby with warm stained wood, arched details, and floral-patterned stained glass.

Crystal globe chandeliers hang over the bar, giving the space a vintage hotel feel that still fits the Victorian theme.
You will also notice how different the lobby feels. The Grand Floridian has undergone a visible transformation for months and now features richer textures, updated furniture, softer colors in the carpets, and more lush greenery.

From the upper floor balconies you can see the full bar pavilion and how it ties the lobby together.
Soft Opening
Cast Members were pouring drinks during the soft opening, and printed menus were available, but Disney has not added The Perch to My Disney Experience yet.
