We Have Mixed Reviews About the Holiday Treats at The Friar’s Nook!
The holidays are officially here! MickeyBlog is live from the first night of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, and we are having a blast.
This is the ultimate festive Disney event, and we are bringing you first looks at exclusive merchandise, holiday entertainment, and some of our favorite foods.
Are you ready to indulge? Join us as we head over to the Friar’s Nook in Fantasyland for some delicious new treats and drinks.
The Friar’s Nook
This is exciting! The quick-serve location has all-new items, and we are excited to try them out.
First up is the Spinach Artichoke Hand Pie.
This flaky hand pie is filled with cheesy spinach and artichoke dip and topped with a drizzle of red pepper sauce.
It is a very light and crisp pastry, but it was kind of “hollow” inside. The filling was good, but tit left of wanting more!
Though the filling was lacking, there were good-sized pieces of artichoke inside, which tasted great.
The red pepper sauce was tasty, but it somewhat defeated the purpose of being a “hand pie,” as it was very messy to eat. Lots of chopped scallions on top gave it a punchy flavor and a pop of color.
We also tried the Pig in a Blanket. This Parmesan puff pastry-wrapped hot dog comes with an all-beef hot dog, crispy onions, and honey mustard barbecue sauce, and is served with tots.
This is a big hot dog, which was the perfect way to refuel at the party. It tastes like a classic pigs in a blanket with added Parmesan flavors and crispy onions sprinkled on top. However, they quickly fell off, so they didn’t completely add to the flavor.
We didn’t see (or taste) the honey mustard sauce, so we suspect they may have forgotten to serve it to us.
A Sweet Treat
We were looking for something sweet, and our final taste was this Ugly Sweater Shake! The creamy drink is a vanilla shake topped with whipped cream, festive sprinkles, apple-caramel sauce, cherry coating, and a chocolate piece.
Sweet and creamy, we love a classic vanilla shake! The sprinkles throughout added a fun crunch, and the cherry topping was super cherry-flavored. Perfect!
