Bob Iger Will Discuss the Legacy of Walt Disney on Upcoming Episode of ‘The Rest Is History’
If you have ever heard Bob Iger speak, he is likely to have talked about the legacy and impact of Walt Disney.
Like Michael Eisner before him, he continually ties Disney’s latest creations and decisions back to the man who started it all. If Iger can work Walt into the conversation, he will.

Perhaps it should be no surprise that Disney CEO had made an appearance on an upcoming episode of The Rest Is History podcast, to take a look back at Walt Disney’s legacy.
‘The Rest Is History’ Heads to Disneyland
Taking hosts Tom Holland (not that one) and Dominic Sandbrook on a tour of Disneyland, Iger discussed Walt’s legacy as an animator, film producer, and theme park pioneer.

“Whenever we investigate a subject, we always want to do more – we’re frustrated we can’t carry on,” said Holland (via Deadline). “With Walt Disney, we thought it only right to come to Disney – to Disneyland itself. Walt Disney, more than any other figure, embodies twentieth-century American culture, and Disneyland is a remarkable creation – one of the most influential architectural works of the mid-20th century.”

The trio also discussed Walt’s place as a cultural icon and the lasting imprint Disneyland has made on public consciousness.

“Everybody knows the name Disney,” said Sandbrook. “It’s an organisation with an almost unparalleled grip on the world’s imagination – particularly of children, when your imagination is most formative. Walt Disney himself is one of the most important cultural figures of the twentieth century, and anyone who says ‘Disney is just for children’ completely misses its impact in shaping the imaginations and therefore the cultural and political choices – of hundreds of millions.”

While fans will have to wait until Friday to hear the discussion, the episode will undoubtedly be an important one for Disney fans.
Iger Is a Fan of the Podcast
During his appearance on The Rest Is History, Iger also took the opportunity to thank Holland and Sandbrook for their work on the podcast.

“There’s mutual respect here. I’ve loved the lessons that both of you have taught me, and you’ve done so with such a great degree of humour and entertainment,” he said.
