An Emotional Win and Praise for First ‘Toy Story 5’ Test Screening

Fans love these movies, and early screenings for Toy Story 5 have just finished. The reactions? It looks like another emotional win for Pixar.

After numerous movie struggles, Disney is counting on nostalgia and storytelling to reconnect with audiences, and this sequel is ready to deliver.

The story begins with Jessie now leading Bonnie’s room, as the toys face an unexpected enemy: a frog-like tablet named Lilypad.

This battle with technology pulls Woody back into action, while early concept art hints at an “army of 50 Buzz Lightyears stuck in play mode,” adding chaos to the mix and problems for our favorite toys.

Another Toy Story

There is skepticism and questioning the need for another Toy Story after two near-perfect finales. The DisInsider’s Skyler Shuler shared a positive update: “Apparently, there was a Toy Story 5 test screening last week, and those in attendance loved it, and one person said, ‘Once again, another heartfelt film in this franchise.’”

Pixar co-chief creative officer Pete Docter also told The Hollywood Reporter, “I think [writer and director] Andrew’s done a really great job of letting moments breathe in unexpected ways… We got to keep people surprised, so it’s going to be fun.”

We cannot wait to see the latest installment of Toy Story, and so far, it sounds promising. The film stars Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Joan Cusack as Jessie, and Anna Faris as Lilypad.

Toy Story 5 opens in theaters June 19, 2026, marking a new chapter for one of Disney’s most beloved series.
